Yes. As one example; I have a period reference to the SA Roehm Honor dagger presented to Hans Frank. When in hand I will scan and post the details.
Thanks Barry, most appreciated regards, Ryan

Ryan; here is the period information on award of the Roehm honour dagger to Hans Frank, leader of the German legal profession. The source is German Law 1934 and is quoted in a 1939 book by German emigre jurist, Friedrich Roetter. Scan attached. This book is of course anti-Nazi, but contains valuable period references to the legal status of NSDAP uniforms, flags and accoutrements.

I would say yes ..why not. We have seen so many SS leaders in an honorary status..and surely gifts were given in honor as seen with Victor Lutze Army Dagger.Regards Larry

My understanding is that the recipient of the dagger would be the person whose name appears on the cross guard. It was not a common practice but it is encountered rarely. An engraved dagger with a full name is always a fantastic find and research opportunity. cheers, Ryan

The source I provided above (footnote 2) quotes German Law 1934, page 43.

Im trying to confirm that carl schmitt, The crown jurist got a dagger, just like hans frank
I would say that it is most probable, for these reasons. He was held in very high regard by both the party and Hitler (and the German people) his pre 1934 date of joining the NSDAP which quaified him for an honor dagger..his "boss received an honor dagger...also the fact that his name is engraved on the dagger, a feature which lesser personalities might be reluctant to do I believe that you got a potentially great deal cheers, Ryan

Fredrik,

You need some sort of proof.
Can one say that it is the one in the same categorically? Of course not, is it highly possible?? perhaps hence Paul Hogle was not able to say conclusively that it was the one in the same Carl Schmitt guess that we may never know kinda like having a chained SS dagger delicately engraved with H H ...... makes sense to me that a highly regarded or high ranking party official would be more likely to have an engraved dagger with his full name, as opposed to a lowly enlisted man....after all how many SS or SA daggers surface period engraved with their owner's name? provenance is everything could add $$$ to the value for certain cheers and good luck with your pursuit sometimes the "fun" is in the discovery
