This is the same dagger that the seller listed a few weeks back.It was pulled.I'm sure a lot of members of this forum e-mailed him to tell him about his rare dagger.I guess a few of the "helpers" missed the target a bit with the price estimate.... Big Grin Roll Eyes

It is always amazing how much someone will say somethings worth when They are not buying it. Just like collector cars.

There will always be dreamers in this hobby. I'll bet the next time we see it, the grip will be fixed and the scabbard cleaned up totally. At that reserve, it should be absolutely mint in the bag. Sad what greed will do to some people.

Speaking of "Collector Cars":
The highest priced item at the Barrett Jackson auction, which concluded on Sunday here, was a GM Futurerama bus Eek which went for $4,000,000 plus commissions. Why did it go for that amount? I've been around vintage car auction for most of my life and I can't begin to answer that question.
IMO: The best deal at the auction was a one-off factory built Mercedes commissioned by an Arab Sheik at a cost of $2,400,000 with a reputed top speed of 268MPH. This went for $200,000 and I can't explain the rational of this either.
Overall 60's and 70's muscle cars remained extremely strong with records being set.

I have a number one condition matching number 1963 Chevy Sport Coupe Impala SS 409/425 hp 4 speed car Absolutely stock. It has never taken anything but first in class. I saw one go for big bucks on the auction. Then on the last day they had a 1962 SS Impala non matching number 409 go for $55,000. It was a nice original car except for the number issue. Still thought it should have brought more.

What a joke the first time it listed it was under $1000 before ebay pulled it now its up to 15,000 minime bid haha, crazy when someone does not know anything about a hobby and they will try to get a price not even the most expensive dearlers are charge based on someone saying its worth alot. Look what happen to the Amann dagger, they just took that one from us because the thing was worth alot and apparenty we weren't worthy to even see it here. I just love when I get a call in to one of my ads and the person right away wants alot of money because they heard it was worth alot, Roll Eyes OK its worth this much to me I say and go find someone who will pay more, item ends up being sold to me 9 times out of 10.
according to the seller dagger has a standing offer of $12000.00 possibly from Tom Whittmann. I gave up on these when they hit $11,000.00 and the last time I seriously considered one mint they were selling for $9000.00. Are they really worth $20,000.00 now? cheers, Ryan

If Wittmann is truly offering $12K for this one, it is quite possible that it would bring over $15K restored to some of his closet collectors who just buy off his list.
Unfortunately for us common folk, I don't have customers in that league.

PS: I DO believe this is the rarest of the standard issue pieces, far better than the Himmler and SA Rohm, especially with the blade in this condition as most of them are more worn.

so ron, what is the ball bark on these if they are in the 'worn' state mate?

i think at $15k, i've either gotta start working my butt on the street corner or wait to win the lottery to afford one at this price.

did anyone take a look at the blade to see if its the real mccoy?

This dagger is one town away from me.I am by far an expert on Rohm daggers.I have asked if I can see the piece,if the answer is yes i'll let the members know of the condition (photo's don't always show it all.)

Full Rohm pieces are the slowest sellers collectors seem reluctant to purchase

Just curious, why? Price.fake or?
Posted By: Dave Re: Full SS Eickhorn Rohm Half Grip - 11/16/2023 10:58 PM
I'd say price.
I agree with Dave specific to price though, and some edged weapon dealers my chime in regardless of price they don't seem to move as quickly as do comparable qaulity chained and Himmler examples........ perhaps the continued and improved perfection of bogus inscriptions has effected them the same as SS honor rings IDK
In my opinion the main problem is that the ones offered are mainly Herder and Hammesfahr SS full Röhm's: these are 99% of the time standard early M33 SS with the inscription added postwar.
After adding the inscription, the blade is artificially aged, often by applying unusual rust spots, so that it appears that the inscription was there (under the newly added spots) all the time.

The Eickhorn, Klaas and Bökers, which used a smaller specific logo on their Röhms, are almost never offered for sale. And when the are, astronomical prices are asked, like with the Eickhorn in the topic...
Makes sense for certain cheers, Ryan

Yes, it is! In my collection there are a pair of SA and SS daggers made with the full inscription E. Rehm...I discussed with T. Wittman their originality in correspondence...I would like to part with them.. because age and health are not improving...But there are a lot of problems with delivery... for today...

I think it will remain for the children...although this topic is of little interest to them..

Are you saying that the Eickhorn SS full Röhm, offered via Wittmann at 38,5 k US$ is your dagger?

Best regards,
