Anybody have any idea of what this is and what it was for? I know it is not WW2 but didn't know where to put it. The front and back are identical so I don't which is the front or back?

Other side. Seems to bronze with a silver coating

Rod,
Both sides the same, thats different. I would guess a commemorative. Kampfgroupe organization of, or a meeting at Wesermndung.

Thanks for the info Joe. I have had this for about 10 years and never did research it to see what it is! It is unusual to see a badge with the same front and back.

You are welcome Rod. If you wish we can move it over to Imperial to see if more info. is forth coming.

Joe. That sounds good. Maybe it will get more hits in the imperial section?
My guess would be the attatchment or dangle to an Imperial veterans shield. The shield is usually a white metal crown, crossed swords and bandau with Deutscher Krieger bund on it with crossed red, white & black ribbons behind. The dangle usually has the name of a town or unit. Yours appears to be a unit. These usually measure 1-11/4". The shields can frequently be found on ebay minus the dangle cheap.
Thanks for the info Barry. All I knew is that this is German!
