Super!
Hope your bud shows up.
I might dig out a couple of old guns
Andy had one of these if I'm correct. The shell was enormous! Fun to shoot,,loud, smokey, kickback.... A lot of the shells weren't good,,[jammed in after firing]. They were reloads he bought to test the gun... Andy mentioned the brass could only be reused so many times before that starts happening....
Can you get new ammo for something like that?
Try Buffalo Arms at
www.buffaloarms.com. They have .56-50 loads at around $70 a box. They used to carry black powder ammo for many of the obsolete calibers.
This type of weapon is a great rarity.
There are always about a dozen or so Spencer's for sale on Gunbroker.
The original rim fire ammo is very hard to find, and very pricy, like $80 to $150 for 10 rounds.
Buffalo Arms does have ammo for Spencer's, but for the New made Spencer that fires center fire, not rim fire.
Sweet rifle, you just have to bite the bullet, no pun intended, and get a few rounds to display with it.
A really nice and seemingly unmolested Spencer carbine.
Thanks for looking guys!
Looking back in time!
