Hi
Any oppinion on this German leuchtpistole.
What is the meaning of the stamps on the gun
The ac42 is a code for Walther 1942. The eagle with the M over a upside down heart is a bit of a mystery to me. The eagle over the M by itself is a Kraigsmarine proof which is always nice.
Hi thanks for reply.
Where can I find the meaning of the stamp with the upside down heart.
What does the number 359 mean on the little stamp?
Hello Janjan,
The 359 number is the waffenamt number assigned to the inspector at the Walther factory in Zella-Mehlis.
Not sure, but I think I remember reading something about the upside-down heart mark being a city or region mark for Zella-Mehlis - much the same as the Berlin bear. Hopefully someone can verify this.
Hope this helps....
is the upside-down heart mark post war?
I think because normally there is a swaz on the place of the heart?
Is it to relate witch waffenamt?
Denny is about on the mark. I have an Ac 42 #3019 with this mark. I have not forund this in print form but another collector had told me this mark was for Beschuss Zella Mehlis. Your flare pistol is correct. That was the reason I ended up with mine figured it was a bit more odd than others I had seen.Wolfgang Kern is the guru on german flare pistols here is his site. At some point I'll get a book or two of his. But 6 flare guns does not a collector(thats me!!) make.
