Today is June 6th, 2008, the 64th Anniversary of the Allied Landings on the Normandy coast of France. I thought it would be appropriate to share the stories of two American heroes.

The first grouping Michael Safka won the bronze star on D-day while serving with the Co D of the 16th Infantry Regiment, 1st Division. His regiment was one of the first on the beach, and he won the bronze star for running ammunition to the front lines under heavy and concentrated fire.

The second soldier George Steinberger also served with the 16th Regiment of the 1st Infantry Division, and was Killed in Action in the Landings on June 6th, 1944.

Please remember these men, and the thousands like them that fought & died for our freedoms.

Hero's one and all no matter what part they played in the invasion.
