" Any surviving veteran who meet the criteria could apply to the War Department for the Purple Heart and would receive a medal engraved with their name on the reverse. While the majority of the 75,000 Purple Heart medals issued before 1941 were awarded to World War I veterans, Purple Hearts were awarded to veterans of earlier U.S. wars, including about two-dozen surviving Union veterans of the Civil War. Below are the stories of several decorated American veterans who received the Purple Heart for wounds received in World War I and before."

very nice collection happy to say my closet has about ten more uniforms then you have shown marins/army/navy/ vietnam american i think i have a few slant pocketu7niform for us army plus three pair of german leidehausen probly have daves leaderhausen mitt the straps here dave what size were you back then aprobly a sioze three hey guys keep up the good work nice collections thanks for showing god bless all your pea picking hearts andy militarynut
