My son just got this US ARMY-AIRFORCE WWII tunic inthe mail . I thought you might enjoy the bullion work on it .
Ribbon bar and Command Pilot Wings. 1st ribbon is Distingished Flying Cross ; 2nd is Air Medal ..and I need to know what the 3rd ribbon is ????? 4th is American Defence Medal .
Bullion Burma -China Theater Patch .
Left hand COL. bullion eagle on shoulder board.
Bullion Enlistment Stripes. How many years is this ?????
Interior lefthand breast pocket labels : " Regulation Army Officer's Uniform " and inside the pocket " Union made garment --735058 ---Made in USA --GAF ". I hope you enjoyed this tunic and can answer my questions about the 3 rd ribbon and the enlistment time !!! Thanks , Bernd
The 3rd ribbon is for the Purple heart. So he must have been wounded at some point.
The stripes are for 3 years overseas duty (6 months each bar) what is odd is that he doesn't have an Asiatic theater ribbon.
Great looking tunic. any chance of a name in any pf the pockets?
Beautiful "Blouse" I think it is correctly called. That bullion CBI patch is outstanding. The absence of any theater ribbon may just be due to that fact the ribbon bar is a pin on, or so it appears and the theater ribbon is somewhere else?
Sorry , I looked again --but no name ! Ribbon bar is a long pin-on unit .
I know this is WAAAAAY late-BUT- I believe the 3rd ribbon may be the Legion of Merit.
I wonder why he did opted for the bullion US insignia since everything else is bullion??
Distinguished Flying Cross, Air Medal, Purple Heart, American Defense Service, I think. The ribbons should be worn from the left high to low. The Legion of Merit would be higher then the DFC, so you would think that would make the 3rd ribbon the Purple Heart because it's comes after the DFC. On the other hand the PH should come before the Air Medal so maybe somebody rearranged the ribbons. I still think the 3rd ribbon is the PH even though the color looks more like the LoM due to the wider white stripes. Now who's on first?
