I picked this up a few weeks ago from an elderly woman, she found it under a car seat when she and her husband bought a used car years ago. The grip is an early nickel silver SA grip assembly. The blade is an unmarked SS blade, the type found on a m36 chained dagger and the scabbard is a late painted/plated SA scabbard but oddly there are no screws holding the fittings on the scabbard. Was this a piece that a GI mixed up or was this put together after the war to sell to GI's? All the parts appear to be original, but I could be wrong, take a look and let me know. Any and all opinions are welcome.

Someone slapped that together 4 sure, parts look good though.
What luck, finding a SA/SS hybrid under a seat !

Grip is unique, I'd consider mating it to a proper blade, and maybe hope to luck into some better fitting fittings.

Interesting thing is lack of the scabbard screws. I owned once a dagger (can't remember the maker) with no screws to the upper (plated steel)fitting.

I suspect that even as a parts piece the daggers now worth more than the car it was purchased with!! Big Grin Big Grin Roll Eyes

Crossguards appear to be E. Pack.

Nice fittings!

Now if it only had one a dem Hunlein signatures...Heh Heh

Once, in 1986, I found a loaded .380 semi auto handgun under the seat of a car I bought, a 308 GTSI from the local Ferrari dealer. I sold the gun and the car as all my Corvette buddies stomped the daylights out of the car. It looked good though when it was parked.
