I agree, PVON, these are very beautiful grips on splendid early SA-daggers!
Herman
A few to start!
Now here is one given as a wedding gift! Plus the color!
I really like the hangers on many SA daggers,3 piece, vertical, singel with that look!
The hangers are something I think!
Not real expensive! But dresses up a display!
\I know collectors used to take them off and sell them! I had that!
I know I can't be the only one that likes them!
PVON
Its a start guys!

I hope to get more to share!
But here is Hess!
PVON
Most of the signed photos came from the estate of SS General Heinrich Jurs regards, Ryan

Ilya,
Very interesting photo. Can you tell us where it was taken / The Moscow museum ?
Dave
No, this is not a museum
I photographed part of my collection.
Super display and a great photograph, Ilya!
Best regards,
Herman

That's your famous SS pack, Dave... Always nice to see!
Herman
As it appears to be show of time: here are some of mine...
Best regards,
Herman
Lots of SA daggers!
Looks like they do grab folks!
Now the question is how many are vertical hangers on them!
Dave
I count 6 on your pics!
Makers? Tell us about some guys!
Some good pics when you can in smaller batches of makers and close ups!
I believe much to learn looking!
Thanks for sharing and hope for more!
PVON
Did the soldiers take every dagger from the SA folks?
Lots of history!
PVON
pvon
Well, it looks like Herman took all the nice SA's that were around, and Dave got the SS.
Us little guys get the crumbs.
Thanks for showing some outstanding photos.
Ed
Ed
They sure do! But I have to see them close up!
Its very appealing but tell me about the makers, the blades are the icing on the cake!
PVON
Now everyone remembers Patrice from Canada!
He was a member here on GD!
If a dagger had dust under a magnifer he wouldnt buy it!
PVON
Beautiful displays guys Yes Patrice Vaille had some outstanding and amazingly mint daggers his posts and presence here is missed as are many cheers, Ryan
Happy you like my display!
Here is the other side of the dagger loop, more blonde grips here.
Best regards,
Herman
Great collection. It looks like there are over 100 daggers in the photo. It must have taken a long time to put them in such a large circle. I will try to photograph a few of the rarest and most interesting of mine.
Great!
Thanks Herman.
Ilya ... I'm ready
Dave
but such daggers are usually liked by everyone
but not everyone has such a set
Wow you have some extrodinarily rare and desirable makers there that members here would kill and/or die for top notch thanks for sharing cheers, Ryan
when the lighting is better, I will take pictures of something else. It's already nighttime.
IIya
Yes, those are some super nice daggers.
AND, they all have the hangers on them. Here in the USA, most are off when the dagger hits the market. We claim that the leather is lost to time, but it is for sure greed.
Stunning collections guys i love them all

Hello Ilya,
You are very good in estimating!
But I must admit that these SA's got some reinforcements...
Best regards,
Herman
A stunning collection! And again, this is only half the circle?
Hello Ilya,
Thx.
It's more an ellipse than a circle.
Best regards,
Herman
Herman, you have a great collection. I have not seen anything like this for a long time, although I have seen very large collections. Do you only collect early daggers by makers? How many numbered daggers do you have?
Very interesting if you have OTTO LINDER and ARTUR MELCHER daggers?
Herman, you have a great collection. I have not seen anything like this for a long time, although I have seen very large collections. Do you only collect early daggers by makers? How many numbered daggers do you have?
Hello Ilya,
Do you mean numbered Nordmark SA-daggers or numbered SS-daggers?
In my opinion, it is not about how many daggers (or other items) you manage to collect, but how happy you get when finding a new "treasure for your collection", which is of course also a very personal concept...
The number of items is simply the result of how long you continue to collect.
When it comes to SA-daggers, I personally focus is on Röhm dedication daggers.
Best regards,
Herman
Every one that shares their items are thanked and appreciated for the effort to share!
I would like to know who has numbers of SA man on daggers! Very interesting!
I have only had a few!
Have they been able to trace them yet!
I have only seen or held a Honor SA dagger at Houstons house!
That level of stuff and pieces are very exciting!
History of many such items are way above my pay grade of collecting!
Yes I collected for many yrs and never reach that level of effort or affordability!
Some of are members have and I thank them for a chance to see the amazing stuff of the period!
Hope to see some that have been posted before! I would like to know their thoughts to own such history!
If you have been blessed to find them in the woods or just had to find them to buy,it must give you a serious lump in your throat
to do so!
The Houstons,Galiens,T,W, and many of the legends from the past and future must be saluted!
Thanks for showing guys! Most amazing hobby!
PVON
To me, Herman got it right:
"In my opinion, it is not about how many daggers (or other items) you manage to collect, but how happy you get when finding a new "treasure for your collection", which is of course also a very personal concept..."
In SA daggers, my two treasures are an ordinary Emil Voss SA given to me by my Uncle in 1960 ... which started me collecting ... and an EP&S Christmas Dagger I got over 25 years ago.
Dave
NSKK's
Only chained dagger I had!
PVON
Maker
That is a ground Röhm Eickhorn SA-NSKK, "field upgraded" into a chained NSKK officer!
Just wonderful, PVON!
These are one of the most interesting dagger variations, in my opinion!
Is the chain steel based (magnetic) or solid nickel-silver?
Best regards,
Herman
Thanks Herman
Hope we can do a thread on chained daggers!
So much to see and learn!
PVON
Yea John
Very special! Love the Tiger wood also!
PVON
Now that is something special, you lucky man
Yes John has the beautiful stuff!
Keep it coming!
Here is a tagged SA
PVON
Holy cow guys! Amazing! Unbelievable actually
tough maker a 7 I think
PVON
Herder, note there was never the extra strap to hold it more secure, i believe this to be a very early hanger made before they realized they needed a bit more stability
Very unique Seany
Thanks for sharing and helping this thread come alive!
And toall collectors that have shared and allowed us a glimpse
into learning about SA daggers!
PVON
Hi Seany great SA dagger regarding the hanger would the Assman marked clip indicate that it is not the earliest of hangers? Im no authority in this regard. perhaps Dave or others could offer comment/opinion? regarding the F.Herder SA blade is this trademark accepted by the "collecting community" as having been used on period daggers? I know that many of these with SS and SA blades were located in Solingen and are still being sold today. They are generally accepted as period produced. Recently I hand examined one with a full Rohn inscription neither myself nor an esteemed member/advertiser here on GDC could fault it other than to state the proceeding merely asking. We believed that as perfect as it was it would be shunned generally as an unknown Regards, Ryan
The clip on the C. Linder seems OK from that shot. Maybe the SA guy got his dagger issued late or wore it with the the short strap hanger for a while before getting the vertical.
The SA F. Herder has the correct trademark for an SA dagger. Look at the writing on the upper scabbard - it looks done with with a vibrating pencil ? Also the hanger leather looks in almost new shape while the clip and buckle and dagger fittings are very toned.
Dave
Hi Ryan yes you could be right about the clip I'm not sure what year Assmann started making them
Regarding the Herder MM the one shown is period and correct its this one that raises some suspicion
Its been one heck of a run showing SA daggers collectors!
Nothing more enjoyable than seeing a nice SA!
Any partial or full engraved SA with Rohm on it!
How about the worse removal from SA of name! I think I have some ugly ones!
The SA is interesting in the history and how many survive!
Whats your favorite makers?
I never had a christmas dagger!
Just showing SA daggers and thanking all who took time to post or encourage others! Its fun and others will be looking
at this thread!
PVON
Seany,
What suspicions are raised by the SS trademark ?
Dave its believed these blades were "found" post war and some were made up into complete daggers
Hi Seany yes I hear you about the trademark but the Rohm I mention was the same as that which you first posted I may still have pics of it if someone would like to post em cheers, Ryan
Well as we went heavy into SA daggers,Its been very enjoyable!
I never get tired of SA daggers! They have a great look!
And many times they come with other stuff!
Or you might like adding things for a picture!
Many of you have 3 piece hangers or like Illya, lots of hangers still on the dagger!
IN the US I remember all the hangers being taken off because of the value!
Group markings on SA daggers was a very interesting topic here on GD many yrs ago!
Does any one collect by these group marks that id the owner to group he belonged!
Which group marks are tough to find?
I recall hearing that ones close to Russia are tough! Any one have something to add or show markings they have!
Illya had many SA daggers with numbers and id marks on SA daggers!
Many things to learn and see!
Feel free to show things or daggers!
Thanks to all for posting!
Anything collectors would like to learn? I wish Tom W would do that SA book before I die!!!!! HA!
With so many collectors from Russia now, maybe more info on them will surface!
PVON
I looked at the markings on the dagger cross guards and can agree with the table. I have 18 groups of daggers. Almost all daggers are marked in the range from Nrh to OST. At the same time, Oe and W are quite common. The rest of the groups are extremely rare.
Nice table. Can I include it in the Gallery under SA Group Marks?
Hard to read!
Please blow it up!
Illya
Please show us some of the hard to find ones!
Best
PVON
A bit easier to read. Note that the Gaus with a 0.0% were established after the requirement for Gau code to be stamped on the cross guard was discontinued.
Note that the codes on the chart are for both SA and NSKK
