Did they ever come without RZM or maker mark? Thanks

Karl,

Opinion is divided. Some say they did but other believe that those without marks are factory re-grinds of Rohm daggers.

It will be interesting to see what others think.

Thanks Dave. Also it was probably dismantled as the blade motto doesn't match up with the handle insignia. It also comes with a fanticy storage case.

Blade blanks from left over stock before it was acid etched.

Larry,

I've never seen any proof of that. Your reasoning?

Original invoices Dave that are printed in Fishers reference in regards Bertram Reinh that subcontracted every bit and fitting right down to scabbard screws..and the wooden shipping crates the daggers were transported in.
There are others who also have participated in blade blanks purchasing as seen on "some" other producers.

Chained SS blades are a perfect example leaving on some just a casting mark on the tangs which are identifiable.

A Late SA dagger without a RZM control number points to my reasoning also. smile

I think the blade has been reversed and that the SA motto is on the back. Hope he can post another picture.

Interesting thread. I agree with Larry on the dagger being so late w/o an RZM mark certainly points to a blank blade I think. I would also like to see the other side as well. In the last picture showing the blade you can see the end of the motto, but not much of it, but it's there.

In all my years of collector I only saw a copy of Daga SA without any manufacturer markings, according to my researches only some late Dagas SA were not marked, but I do not know which may be the reason they were not marked, I do not know if others Companions are aware of other examples.

I have one, maker mark perfectly not there, cross graining up and down the blade, suggesting not a grind.

Had a multi page thread about it, has apparently disappeared.

My personal opinion is these are error daggers, didn't get stamped and quality control missed it.

Doug,

Probably Eickhorn. Or another major supplier of SA. If they took the dagger apart and re-did the blade reverse, it would look 100% perfect. I have seen quite a few of these. They were Eicks because of the upper scabbard fitting, or the bench number, or the CG marks.
