Look under the tag and see if it looks like 70 years of paper to wood contact.
Hi there is nothing wrong with this dagger. The tag rivets can not re-attached once broken. Everything looks good here, IMO...cheers, Ryan
Looks good; my only observation would be is that the Hersteller i/d is usually pre-entered on these tags before attachment, not left blank. Maybe an oversight in this particular case?
I had the same thoughts as Barry...Looks good to me just never seen one without the stamping on the tag.
I agree...this is a nice unissued dagger.
Have seen and have had several tagged SA with no maker stamp on the tag which have been -due to certain circumstances- doubtless period. Most of them have been in bags with a mm on the bags so perhaps this was the reason the maker was not stamped on the tag too. This is pure speculation but I think this tagged dagger here is also 100% ok.
Regards,
I had a look in one of my dagger books and I found examples of tagged SA daggers without the stamp on the paper tag. Or the stamp never got on there because they just forgot about it or it faded away after 7 decades... who knows?
