why's that mike?
Posted By: wes_143 Re: Honor blade opinions - 02/03/2010 11:54 PM
So then the honor blade is post war etched on a ground rohm and is ruined and not worth the money?

Wes:
There's alway a healthy dose of skepticism when something like this surfaces. You best bet is to run it by Frederick Stephens, who is an authority on etches, and get his opinion. I am going to withhold mine for now but I suspect it's similiar to Mike Ms.

Wes these dedications are a maze in which you can get lost forever, then stagger out bankrupt. I avoid them completely. Mike

Excellent words to live by. Also, if Mike Mac won't touch them, you shouldn't either Smile

I hear ya ...it's just they look so nice and to find a deal on one thats eccepted as real, well that would fantastic eh?
Posted By: A J Re: Honor blade opinions - 02/04/2010 10:29 AM
Red flag to me is why is it only $100 more than a very desirable transitional dagger with a $120 hanger rig to boot.Puma every time no contest IMO
Posted By: Luko Re: Honor blade opinions - 02/04/2010 01:15 PM
This etched suhl dagger has been for sale about few months here in Europe in one on-line action site...and now we have this mess here again
Posted By: reichstall Re: Honor blade opinions - 02/04/2010 02:12 PM
I on the other hand think a in hand would be the best way to approach this.Just because mike will not buy them does not make every one a fake.If you can tell from pics your pretty dang good. There are alot of of personal dedacations done on daggers so we must not rule them out yet. just my two cents.

FAKE, post war done etching, computer font used for the template. Check this thread: http://daggers.infopop.cc/eve/...60093573/m/622108213
Posted By: wes_143 Re: Honor blade opinions - 02/04/2010 04:31 PM
ok well i should clear up that the honor blade for nine hundred is just the blade and not the whole dagger to my understanding. and the puma transitional is complete for eight hundred.he has sent me emails from both toms ,wittman and johnson who agree that the blade dedication maybe alright but they need to inspect in hand first before giving a final ok.
Posted By: Luko Re: Honor blade opinions - 02/04/2010 05:29 PM
As Adam wrote, it is obviously a computer font. Honestly, do you really believe, that someone sell it for 900$...and for twice? As I wrote, this dagger has been for sale on market few months later...and now here it is again...save your money.

Posted By: wes_143 Re: Honor blade opinions - 02/05/2010 04:38 PM
$4000.00 not to cheap. and there all on different backgrounds, he is tring to hard to sell. maybe it's are old con man pawel with a new email address?
Posted By: wes_143 Re: Honor blade opinions - 02/05/2010 04:48 PM
if these are all his daggers for sale i appolgise for thinking that this maybe a con. he does have good feedback on ebay and these are some nice looking daggers that i posted of his here. and i am only looking for the straight goods on these (real or not) is for you guys to judge. most of us dont have a lot of money to waste on bad stuff. but if something looks good i can pass along his email contact for anyone wishing more info..sorry i never meant to offend the selller or anyone.

The cross guards are differing the upper looks solid nickel and the lower looks to be plated. It looks to be "parts" dagger but I will not comment on the blade. I would like to see a close up of the inscription. The 3pc hanger looks nice,,from here. Best Larry

What is that under the letter "S" of Solingen,,, is that a finger print?
Posted By: wes_143 Re: Honor blade opinions - 02/06/2010 03:01 AM
a shame is'nt it.? a small spot above the LL's in the front motto to.but still a nice looking blade dont you think?
Posted By: Larry C Re: Honor blade opinions - 02/06/2010 03:12 AM
It is a nice blade, but the continuous "In and Out" is not doing it any justice. I like the RZM logo, I have one like that on a Mid period NSKK
Posted By: rgaraymd Re: Honor blade opinions - 02/10/2010 02:58 AM
Theres no way this is a Christmas dagger. Look at the lettering in the motto and besides that this blade is a transitional. To my understanding Christmas daggers were the very first ones that were issued to high ranking officers back in 33. No dagger had RZM markings during that time period. JMHO. Cheers, Raul.
Posted By: wes_143 Re: Honor blade opinions - 02/11/2010 02:48 AM
sorry i was showing you three different daggers here, i only posted the one shot of the christmas dagger. the puma was asked about so i posted the front and back of it. nobody asked to see more of the other daggers .
