Straight out of the weeds today. You guys no doubt know more about this maker than myself, as I only buy an SA once in a while. For the purest, this one is pretty much untouched.
Good call on the location a couple miles north of Suhl I've only ever seen one before, it's a 9 on my rarity list. Regardless it is nice one to find. Here's my find from 1/2 hr north of here last weekend. Schnieder
Not every one knows, but the old McSAAR list from 2006 is different from the final 2009 list. Many maker were downgraded in rarity.... No newer list will be made because of the same daggers passing hands can cause counting errors according to Mike at the MAX show. It is a 7 on the final list.
Here is one for the SA lover,, I found this photo very interesting and I decided to put it here because of the dagger and hanger. Check out the High Leader on the right. Take a very close look at 2 things,,first I myself never seen an SA High Leader wear a dagger with a vertical hanger and its unsnapped from the retainer loop the other thing I see is that He is wearing what looks to be a High Leader dagger,, because of the crossguards and scabbard fittings look like the are adorned with Oak leaves. I dont think I have ever seen this combination all at once, with a retainer loop in any High Leader photo. Circa 1936-37 Larry
Larry, Do you know where the picture was taken and what the occasion was? Thanks.
Hi Mikee,, its hard to say where it was taken or what occasion,, but I do see in the background a few forestry officials,, but the time period looks to be 1936 or 1937,, noting the SS officers hat behind the man in the center of the photo looking down. Any comments on the Highleader dagger? Larry
