I am considering buying this chained NSKK dagger. I realize it isnt the prettiest thing but wanted to see if you can see any major authinticity issues. How much do you think would be a fair offer? This is my first time posting picutes and hope I do it right.

After posting these pictures, I have a ew questiosn for you guys. Does the blade look original? It seems a bit sharp through the center section? Also, the scabbard looks like it may have been painted over anodize. Would this be correct for this model? Any other red flags and insight would be appreciated.

Nats,
It does look like one of the links has a RZM and a 5/8 or 6/8.

This brings up an interesting question. Is the blade suppose to be RZM marked if the links are marked with one?

Thanks, Blademan

Hi blademan, its quite possible,to have either a maker marked or RZM dagger in a chained scabbard,Maybe the NSKK guy just bought the chained scabbard and kept his old dagger.
to me it all looks Ok,but I'am sure someone else will comment on your dagger.Probably $1200 to $1400 would be a reasonable price, but do'nt hold me to that.see what some of the other guys say,Regards nats

..and it could be a total put together as there is evidence of the scabbard being brown anodised at one time..though it was not unheard of for officers to buy just the fittings for their daggers..it could be that this dagger has seen a couple of incarnations..

I just read in Bowmans book that early specs actually called for a sharp ridge on SA daggers and makers though it to be a sign of craftmanship to have a sharp ridge. He also states that a sharp ridge alone not be used to determine authenticity.
