Has anyone else noticed 2 different August Bickel maker mark versions on SAs???
Interesting Johnny - in what regards? here is an old one of mine for comparison.
OK, here is what I am talking about, This one is in the "For sale" section.
Check out the differences:
Asside from some artistic differences (lines and such) the first one has the company name on top and the location on the bottom. Where as the second makers mark has the company name on the left and the location on the right!!!
Johnny,
Fishers shows only the first pattern you show, two pictures sightly different, but no sign of your second offering.Very interseting.
Perhaps you should reconsider selling and keep the two!
Regards,Ivan.
I was wondering when someone else would pick up on the Bickel dual trademarks.
Me too
. The second one shown is slightly smaller.
Dave
Well I am glad I am not theonly one who has seen this.
Can I go with my gut and assume that the second (smaller) mark pictured is the rarer and earlier version of the trademark?
Thanks for the input guys!
Johnny
I suspect the second mark is the earlier version, it certainly is rarer. Have only seen a few.
Well, if you guys are interested here is the front of the rarer version:
And here is the grip. The interesting thing is that Bickel lacquered their grips and this one got a few raindrops on it at somepoint. Without being cleaned off the water soaked in and left these spots... pertty cool in the end actually:
Johnny,
Two really first class daggers, one lookers difficult to improve on,that motto is fabulous.
Ivan.
Beautiful piece: As far as I'm concerned the Steinbach makers are in a class by themselves.
Jim
You have been busy haven't you Johnny... stashing these little gems away...
Like a squirrel with nuts!
Just remember, winter is coming, and by "winter" I mean Whittys book!!!
