Hello Ken 17, this is, what I can see from the pics, an original SS Mod. 36 "chained" dagger. Tom Wittmann did classify it in his SSbook as "Type 1", Sven Georgi (in Ralf siegert´s book) did a newer, more differing cassification and did call it "Type C". The overall condition of the dagger looks nice, it seems to be the variant with the nickle silver crossguards (Type C daggers did also come with iron or pot metal crossguards; the chain is always the same, nickle plated steel).
Unfortunately, at least what I can see in the pics, it seems that the eagle once has been broken out and (the same or another?) eagle has been halfhearted put in again. Due to the portepee it is hard to say if the same has happened to the SSroundel but although there is a bit of the wooden grip broken out it seems that the roundel is period in place.
The blade is wthout makersmark which is proper for M36 daggers. The tip seems once a little bit broken and perhaps grinded to form a new tip.
The "DRGM" within the wotan´s knot and the deep SS "proof" stamp (showing a certain product has been delivered through SSchannels) is proper for this type of dagger.
The portepee covers parts of the grip so I cannot judge the grip for sure but only from these pics due to it´s form it does look to me perhaps like an early grip which would not be proper for this type dagger. But I could be wrong because of these pics.

Hello dagger is fine in my opinion value $3600 to $4500 in this condition which is better than much of what you encounter at shows cheers, Ryan
