Hello, I have an SS Dagger which I acquired about 40 years ago. I would like to present it here and let you experts tell me what the good the bad and the ugly of this specific dagger. I know it is a Robert Klaas 1939. I am attaching 18 pics. Looking forward to your feed back. Thank you, Mark

It's a fake dagger completely

I'm nowhere as astute on ID'ing SS daggers and even I can see a few things that I wouldn't want on a dagger.

Jr or anyone care to elaborate further? Is it 100 % non original parts? Does it have some original parts, like the scabbard perhaps? If it is completely unoriginal parts, who was making these 40 + years ago? Were there a lot of them back then?

Mark
Seems that is a hard question to get answered here.
Been asked before, never really answered. Kind of a good looking dagger.
If you have had this dagger that long, the "We don't want to help the fakers" thing is out the door.
I'd like to know what the dagger is worth in dollers.
I'd pick one up if the price was right.
Good luck

The grip and emblems are totally bogus. If you study the basically 4 styles of eagles in any SA or SS grip, you'll not see the one that is in this handle.
The blade projects a rather sharp spinal ridge, with the motto too far down from the shoulder.
The scabbard fittings are typical of what we see with the 70's produced post war reproductions produced in Spain.
While Piel & Adday did make crossguard for many manufactures out of nickel, these appear poorly cast repops. Additionally, Klaas guards are usually St caster marked
Even during the RZM period the fitment of the grip to crossguards are much better typically than shown with this example.
The SS runes button is huge, and poorly set in the handle
The trademark is a known reproduction, and not like what Klaas used.
If the PA crossguards are in fact period nickel, you're not going to see them used as late as 1939, as indicated by the blade RZM
Same dagger shown on WAF, and those who responded called it bad as well.

Well, I guess I got the ugly truth. Thank you for breaking it down for me. Mark
