Dear collectors! Help determine the blade of the SS dagger. Many people do not like it. Thanks in advance for answers!
It's bad, notice the laser etched blade and the dark cast to the metal? Runes button is bad, I'd run away!
Very interesting, the blade blank was made by C A H Carl Aug Harkoff. Definitely genuine. However it was definitely modified at a later date. if I had to bet money on this piece I would say it was a 1945-46 Atwood post war piece. Just my 35 year opinion. Chuck Duke GD # 0028
I think the blade is a modern made repro as well. They are now faking tang markings unfortunately. I know there is variation from forging to forging, but look how clear the markings are on this genuine example.
The CAH is typical of all of the ones I have seen on genuine Tang marked blades. So who really knows. We both agree that acid etching and markings are not period correct.
The Hartkopf foundry mark looks period, more modern fakes have the mark stamped rather than in relief. The Eickhorn marks are definitely of modern production, probably laser etched as stated. Even if the blade was made pre-1945, who would want it with a modern maker mark? I agree, run away from this one.
Many thanks for your answers! On the garbage!
