This is not exactly a transitional SS dagger.
This is an early one, produced in 1934, so in the first period.
Time to buy some books and do some homework yourself Ryan!
easily worth $3800 to $4400 cheers and be proud Ryan
Wow, where do you buy your daggers???
The dagger has a nice value but please do not exaggerate...
3000 - 3500$ would be more accurate.
Very nice dagger indeed Bob! I'm so happy for you that you finally have one.
Well done and enjoy the dagger. Believe me, it shall not be the last one. :-)

we that have been in the hobby for some time often refer to items as we are originally used to..Krikke/Kris I dont know you I have collected since 1982 and remember talking to Tom Johnson about district stamps when the collecting community still accepted that cross guards could be stamped 1 to 9 I always thought that was wrong I used to buy RZM 120/14s for $800 back in 1994 because many considered them to be fake and NO one wanted RZM pieces little was known...I don't know everything..I am continually impressed when I meet up with Paul Hogle and he shares his wealth of knowledge but be rest assured "my friend" that I have done my "homework" cheers and respect, Ryan
Great looking SS there Bob!!! I'm jealous!! they don't get much better than that.....great score!!
Ryan I was a Hotel Buyer back in the 70's and 80's Mainly bought Samurai Swords for a living but did buy Many German Daggers ect, I was buying SS Daggers for 3-400 dollars and I think I paid about 1000 1500 for chained SS Daggers and most of them were Mint condition. Tom Johnson came in on one of my buying trips in Indianapolis to see if I had bought any German items , daggers I think I sold him 4 Daggers one was an SS. Really Nice guy. I think he was on Active duty then, I hadn't been out of the Army very Long. . Had a Good collection once of Daggers and Nazi Pistols and Samurai swords, But are all Gone.:) Bob

Thanks Pat I appreciate this
Bob
Hi Bob I am certain that you had many stellar pieces from that era I would have loved to have seen them. We have all sold or gotten rid of pieces and collections that we regret for many reasons. Good news is that there are still deals and great fellows out there so that you can rebuild a collection that SS is a fine start cheers, Ryan
Yea Ryan if I only knew what I knew Now. I have lots of stories LOL.
On one trip I done real well Man bought several Japanese swords and a guy came in and said he had to much stuff to bring in. Well I went over to his house and he had a foot locker with about 20 daggers or so I it and lots of other things Like a Navy Luger with Holster shoulder stock and Snare clip Mint condition. I bought that for 500 and I can't remember what all the daggers were But I can remember e had 6 Unissued 2nd Model Navy and a couple of nice rad hewers , SA and one Nice SS, I bought all of them. To really top the trip off he said would you like to meet my nheibor I sort of looked at him and he said Jamie Farr, It was in Toledo Ohio. Jamie came over and we had a beer and a good visit. He was just a great regular guy:)

Well, I never saw crossguard districtstamps higher then III... Some Eickhorn lower crossguards can be 'benchmarked' from 1 to 9 but that has nothing to do with with districtstamps. Accepted is that these are some qualitycontrol markings.
And fact is still that 120/34, 120/35, 121/34, 121/35 and 188/35's are and stay early daggers with the same nice quality as other makermarked daggers and not 'transitionals'.
Thanks and respect.
Point taken Kris, but 30 years ago we, in my circle of collecting referred to these particular SS daggers as being transitional due to RZM marking and nickle silver and annondized/painted scabbards. I am just trying to state that nomenclature changes along with information sometimes I, myself, still refer to them that way and always will as they are not maker marked and therefore the earliest of production tomatoe/tomato
cheers and regards, Ryan
Thanks for the daylight pictures,
Looks like a untouched dagger .. whatever you do dont take it apart just to clean it!! Leave it as it is.

When I was a Hotel buyer back in the 70's and 80's I bought a few of the Pickle Hooties as I call them lOL
In the 70's and 80's I was just a noob, schoolboy. But was born and grew up on the ruins of the Third Reich. And in the war games played with the original MP38 and 98K. Here, since then something has accumulated. But a particular interest appeared about three years ago, especially towards official daggers.
Sorry for my English, so-so, the school course
