Screaming example Paul !! 2 thumbs up
Wow ! Glad to see you still collect ! Super dagger.
Jesus, Mary & Joseph, is that sweet!
Beautiful dagger Paul,congrats.
I really want to see your personal stash
?
Are the fittings nickel silver and the scabbard blued?
No Ron but you have a good eye. When I 1st looked at it I thought the same but it's just dulled as this was laying in a closet at the Vets girlfriends for 60 years. There is a light coat of patina all over it. Just for interest sake this came in with it. Another tagged example, see haw it has the same light coat on it? My guess is the Vet got into a factory and swiped these.
Ok now if you want a real stretch here...
Perhaps some evidence that Schüttelhofer participated in RZM contract 1198/39...
I know a stretch but thought I would toss it out for the fun of it.
Paul,
Interesting thought. The vet certainly did not get those two "off a dead German" as we often hear. Those are worth hanging on your own wall. Great find.
Dave
Paul,
Two amazing finds from the Vet, would love to have them both myself
Now i can read in red ink the letter M & number 7 on the SS tag next to Hersteller: M7/? , can you make it out ?, if you can read it you might have the maker of 1198
Regards Mac 66.
Congrats on these finds,Paul!
Scott,
it looks like only one number behind the slash.
Regards,
Gerd

Yes that what i was thinking as well, maybe will Paul chime in & let us know if he can make it out ?, he could solve a mystery here for maker 1198
Regards Mac 66.
Sorry guys can't make it out.
Sorry guys can't make it out.
So the number could either be 3,4,6,7,9 ?, as we know what makers # 1,2,5,8,10 stand for, can you not make out any part of the number ?, would an ultra violet light help ?
Sorry guys can't make it out.
You may ask a forensic technican
The ink has been faded already, but if i had to guess,i would say 6,because the marked area looks like a circle.
Just my thoughts,
Gerd
Gerd,
I was thinking #6 as well for M7/6 H & F Lauterjung, Solingen.
i do not think we are far away
Mac 66.
I wonder if there is some sort of special light we could use cause this would be a cool discovery.
Any CSI detectives out there?
Paul,
Try holding it up to the light to see if impressions in the paper show up the way a watermark would show up or try a digital camera that makes automatic lighting adjustments may reveal impressions or residue when you use ISO mode (no flash, ambient light only) and the light is low (you 'll have to experiment to find out how low to adjust your light).
If that does not work try infrared or blacklight or maybe Ultraviolet light, would probably work best in a dark room , good luck
Have a read here as well:

Outstanding!!! Don't be a "hoarder" or is that "Herder"?? Give them up!!!! really nice paul, great find, cheers, Ryan
An interesting link Scott, but if this were mine,i would ask somebody who is a professional in this business!
Shouldn't be a big problem in our days.
@Paul,
try to contact a (former)member of this forum, his name is Neal Jackson, from the UK and as far as i remember,he was in this business.
Regards,
Gerd
Gerd,
I have a good feeling the number we are trying hard to make out is a 6
Maybe Paul can take another photo in darker light as i think that photo is too bright & washes out the number a good bit.
Regards Mac 66
So close and so far still. Good luck in this research !!!
Paul,
Please take another picture of the RZM line on that tag and send it to me. I have some software that might just bring that writing back. THAT would sold a mystery.
Thanks
Dave
Ok Dave here are the images taken in various lighting.
I'm 99% sure that Gerd is correct M7/6.
If you need me to email you the files just ask. BTW, it's easier to see from back far than close up!
Hey I think we just solved a years long mystery on this maker.
Cool.
Tom J. and I bought 6 tagged M7/13 HJ Knives just like yours from an old collection in NY from a long time collector who vet purchased them directly. All M7/13s and no mottos.
Also, in one of my first motel buys, a vet came in with 12 SA RZM M7/13s in new condition he pulled out of a store in Germany in May of 45. Evidently M7/13 was one of the larger makers of party daggers.
Hi Paul,
i think we got it!
Here is a final pic.
M 7/6Thanks to my friend Stefan!
Regards,
Gerd
I sure doesn't look like a 6 to me either.
Yea, but you're drinking beer!!!
I would guess maybe M7/3 ??
Kuno Ritter
Dave,
In these black & white photos it sure now looks like a
3Do any others agree ??
Regards Mac 66
One thing is certain though, it ain't a 6, unless I've been drinking too much.
From both pics,Pauls and mine it looks like 6. From Dave's it looks like3.
But i'm sure we'll find out in a short time, because one of these made it.
Gerd
Dave,are you a former forensic?
Well I still think it's a 6 but have sent some further images off for analysis...
for me is a 9
best trussa
My goodness, some see it as a 6, others as a 9 and me as a 3, where will it end. I think I'm starting to see an 8.
So far away from a definite answer and yet, so close from the goal.
But sure makes for interesting discussion.
Paul,
Its not a 6,3 or 8, Definitely Number
9 for sure going by your new photo for maker SMF
Regards Mac 66.
A great discovery for the collecting community,Paul!
Regards
Gerd
Paul,
Your photo of has now solved the mystery of RZM code 1198 SS > M7/9 SMF
Great work & a new maker to add to the SS RZM codes.
Congrats !
Regards Mac 66.
Congrats !!!!!
Best trussa
Gerd it is you my friend who deserve the credit!
The sitting king, who would've thought.
Gerd it is you my friend who deserve the credit!
I thought it was a great joint effort from all who posted !
I also checked in my archives and that is the same eagle SMF used on their SA's.
You're welcome friend.
Thanks to
all others of these interesting thread and of course my friend Stefan!
As i wrote,it's a great discovery after all these years!
But i warn you Paul,if you ever attend a german show, you have to pay for a Jägerschnitzel and a large beer.
Gerd
It would be my pleasure my friend.
And if you ever come to one of the big US shows look me up there is always lots of free Diet Pepsi.
Paul,
All these years and I thought I was drinking Scotch...not diet Pepsi.
My mistake.
Great to see that we are still finding out new things about TR items. Thank you all.
John
Ok i can see the no 9 now. great discovery well done
Kreta,
If you come to a big US Show, eat a large breakfast because the food at the shows is crap and very expensive. The hot dogs and hamburgers were cooked long before and the pizza warmed up several times.
Probably that's why Gerd prefer to stay in Germany where Schnitzels are the best (and beer too) :-)
Great stuff guys!
So the sitting king it is ....
Cheers
Emil
Great Find !
SMF produced SS daggers.
what a beauty....

You're right!
Schnitzel "Hunterstyle"
Gerd
I always wondered why they could not serve something decent and charge a little more for it. Or at least bring in a fast-food company that can make something fresh.
The worst that I have ever seen is SOS. The hot dogs were not even warm. They would even give you a lid so you could take coffee or a cold drink back to the table.

Damn...it doesn't sounds good.A fast food company would make sense Dave!
Kassel & Reichertshofen is fine!
They charge a few € more as usual, but still ok!
I guess TJ and his staff like it too....
Regards,
Gerd
Here is the menu:
And here is a $4.00 hot dog.
And here is a $4.00 hot dog.
Are you kidding me?
Dave,
That Hotdog is a poor Repro & only worth 50c
Making me sick just looking at it...prices and the hotdog...cheers, Ryan
they should bring in food trucks
I don't think a lot of people eat there, at least not the ones who have been there before. This is a very common sight:

Well Dave,
i better stay in Germany!
Gerd
That is why I like to stay at the Crowne Plaza and take the shuttle back for lunch then take it again back to the show.
Even the bottled water is a rip off.
John
Kreta,
Really great goods there. Crowds go to SOS, money and high class items go to MAX.
Come to the show. Eat a good breakfast. Take an insulated coffee mug from the hotel as the stuff they sell tastes poorly. Maybe bring a snack. Leave when you get hungry.
Those nasty dealers ripping off people!!
But IMHO the SOS was worse stand in line for 40min for a sandwich and limp fries only to have to stand up and eat it cause no chairs supplied.
Paul,
I started a topic in the Forum. Go there and say your piece. We'll be fed poorly as long as we put up with it.
At least you can sit at MAX.

- SOS -
Has anyone noticed the "Pork Producers" organization that sets up in the hall at the SOS? Really great pork chop sandwiches with other items on the menu also...
Denny, they only show up on Friday and Saturday... not on Thursday.
The only food worth buying at the show is there.
John
That's an awesome piece you have there Paul! Where do you find these daggers? LOL!
