Picture quality is poor, but from what I can see, looks like an original dagger.

Does anyone know what the approx. date would be on it or is it hard to tell without seeing it? Any thoughts on approx value in the market for insurance purposes?

Value is a tough one these days. I would say insurance value, considering condition, would be around $2500. This is a subjective assessment. Other opinions will vary, but, I think that's a decent "ball park" figure.
Worn anondizing, damage to sigrunen, poor conditioned blade....I would place the value on this dagger realistically at $1850.00-.....perhaps Paul H can offer comment...? I think a much better blade (on this dagger) or a very nice conditioned dagger (Boker)on the outside with this conditioned blade would equal your estimate Grumpy...cheers, Ryan
