young collector, I too had one of these. Looked good and was in Atwood's book too. Thought it was good but of course NOT good. Buy some good books which should help. Be CAREFUL...lots of fakes out there!

It is a fake. You might get around $50 for it from a non-collector, who just wants a curio, but no serious collector would likely be interested.
Thanks for the replies i got duped. it had the old story of my dad took it off a nazi in ww2 i will do my research before hand and not be such an idiot.

Young collector dont put yourself down and your not an idiot. The fakers and scammers like to feed off of those who are a new collector and with that they know your knowledge in the subject is limited. Getting "duped" or failing is the beginning of knowledge and no collector,, a novice or advanced is born with this knowledge. It comes with bumps and bruises and when you get them,,this is when you begin to learn. You will do well young collector.. read, study and ask questions, is the only way you will gain anything in this hobby and life itself. There are some great minds on this forum that will help you in anyway they could. Regards Larry

Siegfried B is right. I've lost count of the times I got burned. Have learned a lot in the meantime, but you never know it all. At this point in your collecting endeavors, post photos, if available, and descriptions here before buying. This site is something that didn't exist "back when." You had to depend on references and other collectors for support. There were no known collectors nearby here, so I flew mostly by the seat of my pants. Your knowledge and confidence will grow as you learn and many pitfalls will be avoided.
My friend we all make mistakes. If you saw my "mistake" closet you would not feel quite so bad!!!! grin
We are all learning here and that's what the forum is all about.

In the old days collectors got burned much more than today due to the internet collecting forums. Use them and you will learn much.
