Thanks for the additional photos. Looks like an early pre-regulation, pre-RZM variant to me.
Are there any markings on either the metal or leather? That is a rare hanger in my opinion.
Very unusual to find it on any dagger, especially a 1938. I like it a lot!
But still would like better photos. Wink I know sounds like it's asking alot but you don't see these everyday.

Is that common variation of the RZM stamp for SS daggers? I mean the RZM itself, with the single full circle?

The RZM mark on SS and SA daggers varies greatly. For an instition that was supposed to bring uniformity to the political pattern daggers, they certainly forgot to specify uniformity of their own marks.

That particular one is OK. I have seen it many times. It is the only SS RZM dagger mark that uses the regular letters for "SS" instead of the lightning bolts.

In my opinion, that is not a vertical hanger. It is a short strap hanger and belt loop that someone had tried to make look like a vertical hanger. The short strap hanger, minus the snap clip and the little keeper has been threaded through the belt loop and carrying ring and buckled on the front of the scabbard. Frown

The hanger looks as selfmade,nevertheless-this is a great dagger-ensemble.

Think Dave has hit the nail on the head if you rearrange the hanger parts that are shown you have a complete rig including the scarce belt loop just missing the wee leather keeper on the short hanger still a nice rig IMO

Thanks for all of the information, If I can find out how to sell stuff on the forum, I may be selling some of my daggers. I have made a trade for this one for a 1908 Bulguria luger,
I think its a even trade, hope so.

The 2 and 4 on the hanger is RZM in an open bottomed circle I think
