Hello, just wanted to get an honest opinion before i purchase this dagger, real or fake???
Regards
This one has been discussed before:
http://daggers.infopop.cc/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/728099473/m/3940053693Looks like it could be the same dagger. RZM number 7/67 is Hammesfahr, which has not yet been identified as a legitimate maker of late model EM SS daggers. I really do not like the rounded crossguards, which makes me suspect the entire piece.
Thank you, so in a nutshell it's safe to say that it's a fake?
I really don't like it either, the already mentoned rounded crossguards and the blade spine looks odd along with the rest of the blade. I would stay away!!
So the crossgaurds shouldn't be rounded? i see the curve in the spine is that what you are talking about?
Unless postwar polished alot this dagger not even RZM standards would have allowed a blade to come out like this one, same with the crossguards they sould not look that way and you would think an RZM's guards would exibit some pitting and not be perfectly smooth. there is too much here to even assume it could be real.
Also welcome to the forum!! Stick around and you can see on the many different post in the SS forum that this was and amature attempt at best!!!
I think the motto is place too far down the blade aswell.
I think it would be wise to leave this one alone.
Wow! i really apreciate everyones help, i almost dropped $2,000 on this thing.
Agreed - too many red flags. Welcome Lateralus!
I remember this one. It has been on Ebay at least once before. That rounded lower cross guard is the first thing that jumps out at me. I agree on the motto, looks like it is too far down the blade. The pictures are bad, the color is lousy. I wonder why... I would avoid it unless the seller will take $50 for it (seriously). Might be a parts dagger, but whatever it is, there are many bad/repro parts there. Nice paint job on that scabbard! Just my 2 cents worth..
A very bad fake-Grip eagle head is terrible
