After I posted my Allach squirrel, which we all agree is called an Eichhorn in German, I was given a lead by Bill Warda, a gentleman and a true credit to the spirit of this fine hobby, on another squirrel.

Since I like Eick, and the Eichhorn is the TM used by Eickhorn, I have started to pick up procelain squirrels mostly to use as a back drop for my Eick daggers and bayonets. And, these items have a high wife acceptance factor.

This squirrel is made by Meissen and has a couple of very tiny flaws, which made it very affordable to me.

Here is the front view:

Bottom markings.

I can make out the number 78758, can anyone help me with what the others mean? and with what the 78758 means?

And, thank you again, Bill, for helping me find this.

Very nice John, a beautiful addition to you collection of squirrels, why doesn't it surprise me that Bill had a hand in finding that, he is one for squirreling Big Grin away information on all types of porcelain.

Nice

And he gave me information on other squirrels that I could be looking for... bummer.

I thought that I could get away with only one. I hate this hobby.

Hi John,
Another nice piece you can't go wrong with no matter the super tiny flaws. I really like these squirrels and hope you continue to show us more of your finds. Bill certainly is an inspiration to us all and is always giving a helping hand whenever he can. This porcelain stuff is addictive and like you stated, it is something most wives will enjoy as well. I picked up a porcelain doe companion for my Damhirsch and the wife loves it and now insists I get a porcelain fawn.

Very nice John and congrats on adding this piece to your growing Squirrel family. Bill is the man on porcelain.

My latest, again from Bill Warda. A tiny Rosenthal white Eichhorn that goes very well with my other white squirrels.

Bill is evil, I tell you, evil. I thought that I would be satisfied with one (or maybe two) examples of squirrels that I could use as backdrops to my Eickhorn blades. But, then along comes Bill with all kinds of ideas and suggestions that I CANNOT ignore. Big Grin Big Grin

Here is the little rodent with his bigger white brothers.

John,

It's good to see the squirrels are multiplying
so quickly ... Big Grin you've got some excellent figures there to go with your fine Eickhorn collection.

I'll have to see if I can find you a few more
neat examples. Cool

Is that the extremely rare, black porcelain Allach narwhal? Eek First time I've ever seen one, nice!

I consider it a pleasure helping others with the same interests as me and especially when they're as cordial and as easy to deal with as you are. Wink

Best wishes and much continued good luck with your fine bayonet collection.

Best!

Thank you, all.

The thing that I love the most about this hobby is the great people who are here to help, advise and encourage you as you expand and modify your collection. You guys are all fantastic and it is a pleasure to be able to interact with any and all of you.

Further to Bill's comment about my rare soapstone 'Allach' pieces made in captivity by Eskimo prisoners-of-war only... I will post a couple more pictures along with their squirrel buddies in a future post.

JohnZ,

Here is another example of the Meissen Squirrel only in Terracotta. It is identical to yours. This example is flawless.

It's available ..

I told you that I would post pictures of those very rare Allach Eskimo carvings. I have it on good authority from very many reputable people who do not want their names used that these items were made by Eskimo prisoners of war being held in the ultra-secret Stalag 'Iamfreezingmydamnnutsoffhere' that the SS/SD established in the wilds of Russia.

Here are a few shots:

Hey John,
Are the black porcelain squirrels worth anything?
I have several hanging around my house!

Denny:

From here it looks to me like the black squirrel is a well-known organic fake, quite widely reproduced in wooded parts of North America.

You would be nuts to pay anything much for these!

You have seen the white Allach Eichhorn in my collection and here is the coloured version of the same squirrel.

One of Prof Karner's best, in my opinion.

Thanks to Kris Lindblom for pointing this out to me on the German E-bay site.

survived!

Were these made in one place or different places!

I do miss Kris on the forum!

A little bit out in the woods with squirres sometimes but
always enjoyed his banter!

I did see him at SOS!

Thanks for showing John!

Kris has been very helpful to me over the years... he helped me find both Allach squirrels and a Julleuchter.

He is one of the good ones, but can get emotional at times.

Thank You ! I just saw this post eek I rarely get out of the army forum - I am glad you like the squirrels - I believe they are Art Deco vintage 20,s or 30,s and have a great look and patina when I saw them I thought of you !! I knew they belonged in Canada with your wonderful Eickhorn collection.
