As I am slowly going through my Dad's collection
and with the help of this site I have identified many artifacts that seem to be genuine and just waiting to be presented to you folks for opinions.

However, I have come across a few things that seem unlikely. With that in mind, I came across a large stack of Poker Chips overflowing in a leather carring case.

My question, did the TR issue Poker Chips?

I just kind of blew them off when I found them because I couldn't find any relevant info on this site. But I thought I should ask before disregarding them.

Any info would be appreciated.

Your poker chips in all likelyhood predate the 3rd Reich by many years. The swastika was considered a good luck symbol by many groups befors the Nazis adopted it. This was a popular motif on poker chips after the turn of the 20th Century.

When in Baden-Baden years ago, I saw a collection

of Roulette Chips. They had the Casino's name + the Swaztica.

Thanks Jim! There are no identifyng marks on the chips other than the Swastika. I have enough to have a serious poker game, but I really don't think I could use them without some body commenting negatively.

Is their any collecting value in them or collecting forum with info.

They could possibly be from the TR era, but are most likely earlier and perhaps US made. The swastika was used by many as a good luck symbol as it still is in India. In the early twentieth century it was used on greeting cards, poker chips, good luck "coins" etc. You can find a lot of this stuff on ebay.

Thanks for the link. Yes these are exactly like the ones I've seen. They usually sell for $3 to $5 so I expect they're a little overpriced on that site. I used to regularly run across earthenware items such as pitchers & bowls decorated with the swastika and from the same era back when I was involved in the antiques business.

Thanks y'all! I appreciate all the feedback to my question. The link was very useful. The pictured chips look similar to the ones I have but not quite. I will dig them out and put some pictures up. However, it doesn't sound like these are very rare or desirable.

There is an antique store near that has a set of these poker chips...they are also trying to pawn them off as Third Reich.They are actually "Americana" collectibles I think from the 20s maybe earlier.They sometimes have the Swastika on one side and the "Boy Scout"emblem(not sure the actual name of the emblem) on the other side.

I think the Boy Scout emblem you refer to is a fleur de lis in a diamond. Interestingly enough, the swastika was also an emblem of the Boy Scouts until the rise of the TR.

Was just wondering if I was too late for these chips? If you were looking for someone to take them off of your hands I would be interested?

My research has come with this... they were made in America around 1904 - 1907 as some kind of good luck chips, involving tribal lore. Go figure that some 30 years later the meaning of that symbol would change drastically. Let me know and thanks for your time. David.
