I know it is terrible whoever did this to the piece but I would like to get it and restore it to as close to original as possible. the question is is it authentic because it is hard to tell with the custom job on it

Nasty pieces of work these..! The Communist bloc countries produced variants of these all the way into the 70's.

Very lethal and there are still forests in Germany with no go areas due to these.

Its a real bouncing betty GI Name of it S.m.i 35 or something like that German name only had one years ago looks ground and postwar paint emblished should originally look like one Vern shows. timothy

While doing some research in Germany for my new book I found a bouncing betty in the Hurtgen Forest a couple of weeks ago. Those things are pretty heavy! Of course we called the demining service and the police and made sure the area got evacuated. Absolutely not to play with!
