Hello again all,
Hopefully this is the correct forum for my query. If not please remove. My question is regarding these steins.
I am going thru my stuff trying to see what I have, what I want and what I may want to get rid and I have a few steins that I would like to get info and perhaps value of if possible. They are not military in nature so I hope putting them in this section is okay. I imagine these are post war steins, but I don't collect them really and have no idea really. The larger of the two steins shown is about 10 1/2 inches in height, blue coloring on it and has the words "Auf der Alm Da Gibt's Koa Sund". The pewter top is slightly mishappen(very slightly), with a small separation at the handle.
The second stein is green in color, about 7 1/2 inches high and say's "Ein Trunk in Ehren wer will's verwehren" I tried getting a translation of the larger stein but it made no sense at all to me. The smaller one I get a translation along the lines of "A drunkeness in honor of who would refuse" In any case any info on when these were made, value or anything else you can say about them would be appreciated. The last picture shows the markings on the bottom of the larger stein. The smaller stein just has the word germany on it.
thanks again for any help

The large stein inscription is a popular Bavarian Volkslied (folk song) and, I believe, loosely translates into "There is no sin in the mountain pasture.

The smaller stein translation is a rhyme that translates somewhat into "A drink in honor, who would refuse".

Some of our more proficient German-speaking members may offer a much better translation.

Both steins are export post 1891, probably circa 1920s.

Values are nominal as the more common general stoneware steins are not currently too highly sought after. It might be best to check ebay for selling prices to get an idea of current market values.

Any damage can severely affect the value of any stein.

Hope this helps.

Hello,
Roger, thank you very much for that information. I have done some searching on the web and have not found out too much. The marking on the larger stein...if I am correct is to a maker named Simon peter Gerz I believe(?). The damage on the larger stein is, at least to me very minor but still as you say I'm sure it would affect the value. I will do some more checking so that I can get at least a ballpark idea as to value. Again I thank you for your help and any other information you might come across is welcome. Also anyone else that may have some info, it is always welcomed. Again your help is much appreciated. Thanks again

The steins are worth less than 50 each. More like 35-40 each. Their main value lies in their value a a decorator item and not as a collectable. Unless the stein is a Mettlach or unusual in construction their value is minimal; sorry but's that what's realistic.

Hello again,
Texas, no problem at all, I had no idea really what they were worth so all comments regarding them are appreciated.
