Here is my traffic cop. Shirt is legit, tie and slacks are Target. Shoes are Sal Army. Showed this before with a side shot and the traffic Schutzhelm.

First a Wasserschtzpolizei tunic and now a Verkehrspolizei Tunic displayed in a matter of less than a month! Spectacular tunic Joe!

Joe: Is that a golden cord for the whistle? Being most of the color representations I’ve seen reflect light brown visor bands & leather and noticing your display reflects a darker brown, I was wondering if the regulations changed in a certain year or perhaps the same year as the 1942 change that we’re familiar with?

Pat: I’ve thought about this topic since the beginning and figured it would have limited uniform related responses and be cluttered with novelties/trinkets due to the rarity of related material. Although I’m glad see a picture of an actual tunic and some shoulder straps!

The yellow cord is his whistle. I don't think they Vehrkehrspolizei ever had the light brown of the Gendarmerie. The brown was Schupo brown as they were a sub branch of the city Schupo. I must apologize again for the lack of color clarity of the shot. Indoor shooting is not the greatest. I will try a shot outside when we get a nice sunny day. George always has superb outdoor shots. I tried a close up of the hat too Patrick, but the white screws up the exposure.

Joe, that is really a fantastic grouping you have. Does it all come from the same man? (ie. do the tunic, visor, sturzhelm, belt etc belong together)

Traffic Brown: Thanks for your reply! Is your cartouche a darker brown like the belt? just curious, as my example is similar to the rural example...pictured below.

Dave, the belt is close to the box, but the browns are variable as you can see in the photo. The dark officer box is a deep chocolate brown. I don't know if there was any color change over the years. The officers are leather, as is the right rear box. The others are erzatz.

The buckle side strap is shorter than the latching side and shows no sign of a break. I haven't looked closely at any of my motorcycle photos, but I would think the latching strap was brought under the chin as the two ear flaps were brought together, then that strap would go through the cross strap on the opposite side to meet the buckle. The crash helmet eagles are identical in size to the cartouche kasten eagles. But the helmet eagles have spit brads which are necessary to pass through the depth of the helmet holes. The cartouche eagles with small d-rings won't work

I think we might have covered the traffic shako in an earlier thread, but I thought I might as well take a shot with the nice weather and add it here.
The white shako was used by the Prussian police amongst others, but the fittings were aluminum including the silver Prussian star . These sometimes show up with the III Reich gold traffic eagle but the fittings are aluminum color. There are also air vents visible on the front of the shako showing through the eagle device.
I have seen one or two post war shakos spray painted white and Radecke identified a post war shako of white body and black visors as being III Reich. So beware.

Very nice Joe! It’s wonderful to see such fine original material instead of pictures & trinket representations.

Also a killer cartouche box display! That dark chocolate officers box reminds me of an example I was looking at a few years ago, although the seller forgot to mention it had a horrible case of dry rot, enough that you couldn’t even handle it, and it was returned.

Maybe, I consulted you on one of those white-bodied black visor Tshakos that represented what Radecke had in his book. It had a terrible white paint job on the body. Looked nothing like that fantastic example you posted above!

My first white tunic was part of the learning process. I thought it was original and didn't know any better. It was apparently a post war white tunic, open collar with insignia added. The white pants reminded me of the ones my dad and the other bakers wore when he was a baker.

Do you know in which year the use of the White Tschako was cancelled for daily use?

my 1936 Bekleidungsvorschrift (2.teil) does mention the White Tschako while the 1940 bekleidungsvorschrift(2.Teil) calls for the use of the White visor.

The Knötel-watercolors which are from about 1938/1939 do not show the White Tschako

The 1938 Bekleidungsvorschrift(1.teil) still has the white Tschako listed for parade-purposes.
In 1940 the white Tschako was still ordered for in special circumstances and only in a "Kraftwagen"

Pat, does the eagle has split prongs or little D rings? The prongs were usually for the Schutzhelm, while the D rings were used on the Kartouchekasten.
