Around 20 years ago , I bought these Police award document and awards to a Lorenz Geyer in the 8./SS-Polizei Schuetzen Regiment 2. Interesting for me was the fact , that the Cousin of my Mother had served in the 12./SS-Polizei Schuetzen Regiment 1 at the same time . As I understand it , these units served at the Russian front around Leningrad and suffered high losses .

Now his award for the Iron Cross 2nd class , which I had to 'recreate' , since the origonal , given to him by General Pannwitz in person , was destroyed by him there in Croatia at surrender time to Tito's partisans along with his Dienstpass with the SS-runes on the front .Anything like that document ( the 2 other ones and the medals he had sent home ) and anything showing the SS-runes were not a good thing to keep at that time !.

Bernd, thanks for taking the time to post all those pictures of the various polizei document/award groupings! Very interesting material to review.

One thing I always check out is the myriad of circle stamps used and that Polizei-Regiment 2 is rather interesting where it appears the SS was added by hand after changing designation.

Very interesting material, thanks for sharing!

Excellent documents and medals: thanks so much for sharing them with us!

BTW we have included a 51-page chapter on medals, decorations and badges worn by the Police in Volume 2 of "Uniforms Organization and History of the German Police" and I hope this will at least in part satisfy the just demands of this Forum!

Roger Bender is burning the midnight oil to get Volume 2 ready, and it is expected to exceed 800 pages.

That is excellent news!!!
The Infantry Assult document is signed by later Knight's Cross holder Fritz Freitag. He also served as the second Ia of Polizei Division (after Walter Krüger).
