Hi,

could I please have your opinion on this arm band. Any help would be appreciated. I have this awhile and always thought it might have been a repro but when I put the black light on it it doesn't glow.

Thaks,
rocky

That is a known original style armband. I see several loose threads. Pull a small one and hold it in the flame of a match. If it melts, it's a repro. If it burns, it's probably good.

A black light will only work on a white piece, paper, cloth etc.

It should feel very 'slinky', not stiff ish,,,,also if you close your eyes you should not be able to feel the printing,,,that with Verns burn test is probably the only way to determine authenticity...

Thank you very much Vern & Gaspare for replying. I did not try the burn test yet, I just got home from work & will do it tomorrow. The lettering on the arm band is not raised and you can't feel it. The arm band is not stiff . I took some better close up pics. I wish I had a known original to compare it with.

Thanks again,

rocky

To me this armband has fake aging. I typically avoid the J shaped I on these polizei armbands.

yeah,, now seeing the burned /charred section it is suspicious..

K. Bullets,, what color is the stitching at the top and bottom on your examples? Could you show the 'I' you prefer?... , Thanks,,,G.
