hi, can anybody help.i did a stupid thing with a ring.
i have a rare german ring which is made of brass and at one time had a siver wash,it had letters and numbers on the back of
the front plate.now the stupid thing, i sent it of to be silver plated and they covered the letters with a thick layer
of silver and now you cannot see them. is there any way of
removing the layer of silver to expose the letters. mike

Mike,, maybe you can post in the Honor Ring forum..
Many of us have repaired and restored our rings,,,,and please,,a few photos. They are free to post and very easy to do..

I did a similar 'repair' to a friends ring,,,really got to see photos,,and find out exactly what the plater did/used..

As Gaspare stated, it would be necessary to see from pics what has happened. Please show it at the honor ring forum as advised. Normally a process of galvanic applied silver can be (also per galvanic) reversed.
