Welcome to GDC, Alex,
What an interesting piece of worked leather. A lot of skill and time went into that folder.
Can you tell us the size, please ?
Dave
Hi Dave! Thank you for the warm words! Height - 295mm, width - 235mm. I think it was made after that tragic events but kho knows. Any assistance with investigations is appreciated.
Welcome Alex,,
No other writing inside? you find anything inside ??
I actually like it! Its leather and old.. maybe look in to someone that can give you some hints on how to conserve / restore it a bit..
Got to be careful with leather though. The wrong stuff or person messing with it and it will look a oily mess or worse!
Glory to the heros.............. , Gaspare
Hello Gaspare.
There's nothing interesting inside excl 16 pockets as I wrote before. The leather has a very good condition isnpite time influence.
Cheers
giving it another look its done quite well.. The eagle wings are a bit off or maybe damaged somehow...... But the SA and the other tooling designs are done nice..
- the 16 'pockets' might be for a set of photo cards relating to that day. Kind of like tobacco cards or similar [?]..
Gaspare,
They are for the likenesses of the 14 Nazi marchers who were killed on the East side of the Feldherrnhalle, where the Residenzstraße empties into the Odeonsplatze, on November 23, 1923. Plus 2 other hapless Nazis killed elsewhere in Münich during the Beer Hall Putsch.
Dave
Dave,, wasn't there like a set that had all that? ,,,or like I mentioned , cards in cigar boxes that were popular at the time.?
I seem to remember seeing something like that once,,,was a long time ago. Maybe someone has a set or a few , something to the effect of the Putsch remembrance [?]
Gaz,
I don't remember a set, but I don't pay to much attention to that end of the hobby. There were probably endless articles about them in the various captive newspapers and magazines.
A very well piece of leather ...
Dave, Gaz,
Thanks for your insights, they are really usefull. NB from other resources advised that these pockets could be for tobacco cards.
How do you think this forum is a right place if I decide to sell this folder?
Appreciated!
