Hi all . I am about to launch a new web site selling German daggers simplydaggers.co.uk , and I am looking for a logo incorporating this name . Any ideas on how to go about it. It will be a logo like you see on the advertising page on this site , where such as Lakesidetrader and DD Harris have their own logo.
I have nearly finished the website and will be launching it in the next 2 weeks selling Third Reich daggers.
Any help with web ideas will be much appreciated. Thanks Ian

Hi Ian -

Assuming you already have a design in mind, Photoshop would be a good application to create it with. I personally use The GIMP, which is a freeware alternative to Photoshop but doesn't have nearly the support that Adobe offers. So if you're adventurous, then you might want to try it, otherwise go for Photoshop.

Also, if you're not a computer expert and are looking for someone to design and build it for you, check out The Logo Factory. Not cheap, but they make nice logos.

DEGENS !!!!! , you AREthe man.
Those logos are absolutely FANTASTIC !!!
I take I can just save one of these to my computer and use it on my website?
What type of programme did you use for these.

I am pretty sure when my website is up and running (hopefully in the next 2 weeks) you deserve some discount Wink
Thanks again Ian

np, right click and save as.
1 is a gif but should work the same as a jpeg. Glad you like them and out of curiosity which one are you going for?. I used photoshop and a program called xara 3d for the text.
Let me know if you need bigger or smaller,
regards

Hi Degens, I tried to use the 1st logo with the spinning text , but when I placed it on the website , it was static and did not move. Any ideas. Are you able to send them to my email address of [email protected] , in a bigger size. Thanks very much again , Ian

Ian, have resized to 600 which is about the biggest you can go before the pixels degrade. The *GIF ( spinning text ) should work ok, its not that big in filesize, make sure that the program you are using for your webpage ( frontpage ?) knows that it is a .gif and not a jpeg, try right clicking on the image once it is on your page and select properties, see if it says .jpg or .gif. It needs to be d.gif!

Thanks Pal , received the images. I'll give it a go. Cheers Ian

I just remembered from doing my own page that .gifs will not work until the page has been saved and viewed with internet explorer. Once you have inserted the image, save the page and then view from outside the editor program, I bet it will work now !.

Nice looking site, but very slow

Ian,
Very nicely presented and ideal for showing / selling your collection. I was not happy how the banner looked after see-ing the colour scheme you had used so here is a better version that should make your main page look alot neater. Its a bit bigger and crisper and should match >
Sent it in e-mail as well in case you cannot save it Smile. The lower image is a smaller file size which should help your page / site load quicker but is a lower quality image which you should be able to see for yourself, your choice,
Regards

Ian,

had a look at your site...

unfortunaly, its a difficult job to get into the top 3 engines with a reasonable ranking.
(Google , MSN, Yahoo)

You need to know all about Search engine Optimization (SEO), if you want really good results. Eek Eek Eek

Google wont even look at your site for 6 months.. you'll need to do a lot to get a reasonable ranking... even then it wont happen overnight..

if you want to contact me off forum i can give your some advise.. (free of course)

Guess what i do for a living Big Grin Big Grin Big Grin

Thanks for that info .
Why is it , if I put Simply Daggers in on any search engine, it doesnt show up at all.
I'm not too bothered about being top of the list, but how are people going to find my site Confused
Posted By: Stirnpanzer Re: New Web Site Help - 05/05/2006 08:22 PM
its because it hasnt been indexed yet...

as i said it can take months, but there are loads of things you can do , so when it does get a visit, you will get maximum results.

first make these tags more meaningful..

''title>Simply Daggers

''meta name="keywords" content="Usage sample of Ewisoft Website Builder"''

''meta name="description" content="Usage sample of Ewisoft Website Builder"''
