I see where free office downloads are now available, including Microsoft. I need one, mostly to use the word processor. Nothing fancy. I have a Dell laptop. Does anyone know of one that is highly recommended, or having used one themselves? Any advice and suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.

I use Apache Open Office 4. It's an open source product, free to download and use, and you can save your files in just about any format. It includes word processor, spreadsheet, presentation, database, and drawing modules, and can exchange files with 99% of the other Office programs including Microsoft Office Suite. I've used it for over 10 years and have no complaints wink

Thanks, Vern. I found that on the net and was impressed with what was said about it. When it comes to computers, I'm pretty simple-minded. Plus, my old laptop is "ancient" and I didn't know if that would be a problem. I just wondered if there was a better alternative and also wanted to hear from somebody who is knowledgeable. Thanks, again!

I haven't seen a problem running Open Office on any computer as long as you download the correct version for your operating system. The free updates are a nice bonus. And being able to load and convert just about any format document is a great time saver wink
