Hi, guys. Just got a new Dell laptop with lots of goodies(and crap)already loaded on it. Adware popups were an immediate problem. Upon recommendation of my computer repairman, I downloaded Malwarebytes (free version) and Vipre Antivirus. One of them caught the adware and it was deleted. But, it keeps returning and neither protection program is locating and quarantining it. I'm guessing it is hiding inside another program to avoid being detected and removed. Please excuse my technical ignorance. Thanks for any suggestions.

Could you list your exact model, I had a list of crapware that Dell installs somewhere I might be able to help with the uninstall of the crap ...

It is Win 8 correct ?

Remove :

McAfee Security Center
Yahoo Toolbar
The two programs you have installed also should be removed...

Download AVG : http://download.cnet.com/AVG-AntiVirus-F...&tag=button

Choose the free version not the trial, when asked allow permissions, do a full in-depth system check / should be automatic when first installed... The remaining crapware if real spyware or adware will be identified and quarantined - if you want you can uninstall listed offenders from the control panel.

If it were Win7 i'd suggest removing most of the dell utilities but as its win8 I am not sure what is safe to remove and what should be left in place.

This is the same procedure I've used with a couple of toshibas we bought this Christmas and worked like a charm.

Second option is to do a screenshot of your installed programs list and I'll list the offenders...

Best Regards
