I'm trying to figure out how to use my scanner and I'm having trouble understanding how to resize the photo to the required 100kb. What dimension size will get close, but under, the 100kb limit? Will 640x480 pixels be to high or low? Also is a mb bigger or smaller than a kb?

Raymond. Here is a link to a photo resizer. Easy to use. Click on browse, find the picture you want to resize click on upload. When the picture appears right click and click on save picture as. 1000 KB equals 1 MB Here is the link

SSman, Thanks for the JPG Resizing 'Tip' - as I've been using PhotoShop & it is a bit laborious at times. Plus, I use the Mac OS and this Resizing Program Short Cut works just fine. Txs, Dave ....dblmed

SSman, thanks for the link. Unfortunately I can only get through past the 4th step. The photo never appears in the webpage. Maybe because I'm running Vista?

Raymond. I am not familiar with windows vista. I have XP so maybe the resizer will not work with vista?

Hi Raymond - I am running Vista and it worked fine with both IE 7 and Firefox. If you can't get it to work, just email the photo to me (see my profile) and I'll resize it for you and send it back.

Thanks Aaron. SSman has also generously offered to resize the photo but I'm really trying to learn how to do it. I hate to ask someone to do things I should know how to do. There are several threads that I'd like to partisipate in but can't because of this lack of knoweledge. Namely photos and doucuments as these come out better with scans. I'm sure I'll get it with enough practice.

Hi Raymond..... The 'Problem' may be that once the Image is Re-Sized, you then need to:

a) Download it to your Hard Disk (HD), by
b) Renaming it as "XYZ,etc.jpg" and
c) Then Save it - to a HD location where you can find it!

Once Saved..... you then add (upload) it as an Attachment to the appropriate Post that you are making.

**** One potential problem is giving the Re-Sized Image the SAME name as the Original!!! Name the Re-Sized a slightly different name, or you'll have trouble telling them apart at times *******

I keep a Separate folder with 'Re-Sized' Images, by Topic, so that it is easy to Upload / Attach the Image.

Just Keep at it ....... We all remember a World before Computers! Dave ......dblmed
