This is Russ III. Yeah, Lance does have a brother! I like cars and so does my Dad. I have met Mr. Hohaus in Raleigh at a military show. I think he was supprised there are two of us Neighbors boys!!! I do like the militaria but I am not as crazy about it as my brother and Dad. Before my Dad had to slow down his work and daily activites this spring for health issues we always worked on cars at night. Now he has to come to our garage behind the house and pretty much watch me.
Right now I am taking apart a 69 Mercury Cyclone Spoiler II Cale Yarbrough car. We are going to do it over from the ground up. We have done a 40 Ford coupe, 69 Taladega, 69 Cyclone Spoiler II Dan Gurney Car and a a 71 Cobra. We have a 63 Galaxie fastback, a 69 Cougar eliminator, a 72 Gran Torino sport 429 car. a 73 Gran Torino sport 400 cbi car, a 68 Torino Fastback 429 car with factory air, a 69 Torino Fastback my grandad's 87 thunderbird (he passed away before I ever got to meet him) my greatgrand Dad's 50 GMC pickup, my other grand Dads 50 Merc coupe & 56 Ford and what my Dad calls an off brand car- a ZR1 vette. My Dad says these cars are better than money in the bank but my Mom just shakes her head. Russ III the other Neighbors brother School is out here for a flu outbreak so get your shots!!!!
I, too, like cars: 2001 Z06 Corvette, 69 SS/RS Camaro, 66 Mustang, 79 Lotus (Bond Car) and a couple of others that we actually drive.

I fart around in a 1964 volkswagen beetle fully accessorized with fender skirts, rear quarter pop-out windows and factory sunroof. cheap and affordable antique.
My Dad's first love is cars, especially 1940 Fords....here's his. He dabbled in daggers too, because I like them. Growing up in the sixties, I remember he ordered a 1964 Galaxie 500 with the factory racing option 427 with duel 4 barrels. Sure, it only got 3 miles to the gallon, but as a kid, it felt as if the front wheels were coming off the pavement! Wish I had that car now, hehehehe
John
Well growing up in the period of car
cruising of 60's, and the muscle cars
of the period.
Nothing better than taking a ride!
Here is my 73 stingray I had in 75.
I now have fun in my ragtop 454 chevy!
Hope others post!

I think I know that derelict!
I should have kept a few cars , like my very first one, a 1970 buick gs stage one ragtop. Boy do I miss that one. But whatta ya gonna do.
I drug this out of the barn for a picture. Had it since the early eighties. It was my weekend warrior. '67 RS SS 396, 400 Turbo trans, .308 12 bolt "posi."

Cars...another of my adictions. There was a great thread started by Johann on cars but,it's no longer here(thanks Dave
).I've been lucky to own several muscle cars over the years.My favorite being any of the 67-69 Firebird and Camaro's I've had.For now I have a 77 Vette,warmed-over L-48,Richmond 5 speed(12 years).Also a 76 Trans-Am,455 4-speed and 3:55 12 bolt(17 years).
T/A
Ah yes, the days of boulevard cruising.
Even in Norway we like US Muscle Cars
I started off in the "wrong"
camp with a '69 Mustang... Had it for 10 years or so before I sold it..
Then I moved to Mopars..
Had this fantastic '70 Challenger R/T, all original matching numbers. 383 and a 4-speed manual. Now i regret selling it a couple of years ago..
But then again, can't have it all..
I still have this one
'71 Charger R/T, 440 SixPack. It's going through restoration nowadays, might be finished in a couple of years I hope..
So that's were our muscle cars are going
All the cars shown by the owners are great. As far as cruisin I still remember Pelham Pkwy. and Tremont Ave. in "The Bronx" with my '56 Ford.Pelham Pkwy. was a regular drag strip
While most of my cars have been from GM, I love all muscle cars.Trigger those Mopars are great.Back in 1981 my buddy had a 73 'cuda 340.We had a lot of good time in that car.Like an idiot I passed on a 71 GTX 440-4(1982) for $300 because I couldn't afford the car and a Christmas present for my girlfriend.I chose the wrong purchase.
Raymond, love your T/A, "screaming chicken" hood decal, Crager S/S wheels! I'll re-post my '66 Bel-Air. Owned since '92, of course it did'nt look like this, then! Regards, Leipzig

Daily driver.
Used to have a 911 with 'Zyklon' and an Olds with 'Dolch'. A friend had a Pontiac with 'Kreta' (he liked Paratrooper stuff).
Some dude in West Texas has 'Panzer'; I check every couple of years to see if it's up for grabs but he keeps it..........
Here's an exc. Christmas present for all you car lovers. Be the first on your block to own 5 shares of Duesenberg Stock. I got this from an older woman whose house I was renovating. Out in her garage were two '37 Cords in super condition. I would rather have had either car but no such luck. She sold both of them for som fairly large bucks.
love all muscle cars. have restored a few. but my brother and i have drag raced for over 20 years and still love it. its hard to quit once you know the pitfalls and stratagies in this sport.
While i am not into cars, there are some great looking cars posted here, growing up the best one's i owned were a "54 Ford convertible" and a "49 Merc" wish i still had them,,here is a photo of my son's porsches...DAVE H

Don't forget the hooptees!
I just love my 1971 Buick Skylark daily driver. He's big, beautiful, got a gas guzzling 350 V-8 with a 4-barrel, and, he hauls a$$.
Cody
I have one '65 Mustang coupe, one 2006 Mustang Roush Stage III and my favorite...a 2002 Z-06 Corvette. The newer ones are shown in the premium members forum. I had to get the '65 for my wife or else it was gonna be a lot of jewelry...so we both won on that deal.
Mark
Nice stuff guys. That Challenger... ohhhh man! I looked at a '74 'cuda last summer but didn't buy it. I kinda regret it now, but oh well.
This is my baby, a '70 Torino 302.
Here's my '68 work in progress. It's got a 327, Munce 4 speed, and 12 bolt posi. I've had two over the years, including a '66 Chevelle, three four wheel drives, plus a gun collection. It's real hard to put money into all four hobbies at the same time, so I have to rotate them. Hopefully next spring I'll be able to get back to my car. Steve.

Here is my 1957 Dodge Custom Royal, 325 Super Red Ram. My Father purchased it in 1957 and gave in to me in 1995. I hope to drive it to Tulsa this summer to see a 1957 Plymouth come out of the ground.

WOW! I love the 'cuda. A 440 '71 is pretty much the car of my dreams.. Beautiful.
Badbob - What part of Canada are you from? After reading that whole story, if it works out for me this summer I might make a little road trip to Tulsa. Sounds really cool.
Just out of Winnipeg, so it's almost due South for me, Tyrel. Mostly nice interstate, but I hope to drive some stretches of the old Route 66 closer to Tulsa. Seems fitting.
I forgot to mention how much I like the Scandinavian Mopars posted. That colour on JaV's Barracuda is really nice.

Beautifull ride Mark, but I'm disappointed that ford is at 300 hp with these stangs. I feel the minimum hp should be 450 and an option for 600.
thanks ed,
the 2009 gt mustangs are supposed to be another re-design and base hp will be 450.i may buy another one in 09',thats if the wife doesnt kill me first
i have been a bit expensive with my hobbies this year.

The baddest of all..the 2007 Corvette 505 HP
Z-06. It kills my 425 HP Roush supercharged Mustang. No contest. Then again so does my 2002 Z-06 with "only" 405 HP. Corvettes, properly specced are simply deadly.
We've had this discussion before and I have posted a few pics. as well, but I could not resist when it came up again:
I LOVE THIS CAR!!!!!!!!!!!
#2
Johnny, I had a 1985 GT FI Quatrovalvole and all my Corvette buddies kicked my butt. Now for pure great looks...the Ferarri was probably my favorite car ever. The service bills were outrageous though! I miss it. You have a good looking one there.
Mark
Yes, she is a little sluggish off the line, but honestly, who the hell cares???
When you are trying to pick up women it is better to cruise slowly anyway!(like trawling)!!!
Fast or not, she is the greatest looking car I can ever hope to own, thus, I am VERY happy!!!!
Er Johnny:
I think you mean
trolling. "
Trawling" is what you do to dredge up bottom feeders!
I take it your Ferrari is a 308. This was the first model Ferrari ever built in volume and is still a headturner.

Special ordered this one just in time for summer - GT California special.
Hi Tom, Great car, I have a black '06 hardtop and I love it but don't get to drive it much. I was just wondering what a "Calfornia Special" is? First I heard of that model. Good luck with your new wheels, JohnJ
I guess I have to contribute as well . . .
These were tow of my past favorites - sometimes I miss them, sometimes I don't! The good thing about my letting them go - I sold them to friends that agreed to give me first shot at "buy-back" if they ever do decide to sell them!
This is the first one - it got me where I wanted to go with a little nostalgia and class . . . an all-stock 1934 Chevrolet 3-window coupe. It had 21,000 original miles, original paint (yes, original), no rust or any previous damage, and had been stored VERY WELL by the original purchasing family for 30 years - it was in unbelievable condition for it's age! It even belonged to a Doctor that had Dorothy Lamour as a patient all through her childhood! So much history, and so much fun (especially with my girlfriends that enjoyed the mohair seats!) . . .
As you can see, I had a very difficult time keeping my Dad out of it too!
Brad
And this was one of my other favorites - it got where I wanted to go just plain FAST!
It had a 302 cu. in. block that we had bored and stroked to 427 cu. in.! I know it's hard to believe, but it can be done! We used a real Cleveland head arrangement, and with all of the other tinkering we did, it was a VERY tempermental, but also a VERY potent beast!
The scary thing about this car, is that it's so hard to control yourself when you are in the drivers seat - and if you ever wreck, or someone else ever hit's you, you're almost guaranteed a fresh set of wings (or horns!)!Fiberglass body just does not give you a very warm and fuzzy feeling when your traveling in excess of 100 MPH!!
I can tell you this - not much else gives you a "rush" as great as I got the day I paid to do (3) laps around the Kentucky Speedway! I was politely excused for exceeding the 80 MPH limit behind a "pace car" - but you only live once, and I did pay my "entry fee" after all . . . .
Brad
John J the California special is a GT option they had the CS (California special) in 68 and brought it back in 2007.Here is the description I copied from the Ford webpage.
*********************************************
It’s all the things you want in your Mustang GT plus a little extra inside and out to make it “special.” It’s called the California Special and it will be available this summer.
To get the California flair you start with a GT Premium package. The California Special then adds unique California Special Dove or Parchment ""GT Leather"" trimmed inserts and Black with Dove or Black with Parchment interior color scheme. The front and rear floormats include the special Mustang badging.
Exterior accents include side scoops and unique front and rear fascias. The front fascia has a larger air intake and is actually 1.5-inches lower than the standard GT. The rear fascia is also cut differently with less tuck-in.
The polished aluminum wheels are 18-inches with a bright machined rim and are wrapped with Z-branded all-season tires.
Bright rolled exhaust tips and unique tape striping add the finishing touches.

I just love your Charger. My favorite body style has always been the "B" bodies after 1970.
I'm extremely envious!!!!
Now that i figured out pictures, here is my 1970 GTX. 440 4 with Pistol Grip shifter and Dana 60 geared at 3.55. It is almost time to open the garage up and bring out the toys.
The Ulitmate Wet Dream!I have always been a GM guy ('58 Factory F.I. Impala hdtp., '63 Vette coupe, 409 c.i. Impala Super Sport, etc.) but when Ford introduced this baby in the 1960's, I fell in love. At that time, you could buy a street version for $18,950 which included a trip to the Lotus plant in England where they were being manufactured. 19k may as well have been 19M to me.
Now the GT40 is back in production. Take a look at this.
http://videos.streetfire.net/search/ford+gt/0/wm/F664F3...97E-9511BFD719DB.htm
If I remember correctly Denny Ford had to get 100 built so it could run at Lemans in the production & prototype categories. The new ones are even better and there's several here in Scottsdale but, unfortunately, not in my garage. However,I did have the pleasure of doing some laps at Road America sevral years ago in one of it's competetors the Ferrari P4. The GT 40 easily makes my all time favorite list right along with the Ferrari Daytona.
Jim, I'm pretty sure you're correct about the requirement of 100 cars to qualify for LeMans. Remember how they cleaned up at LeMans? Wasn't Mario Andretti one of the drivers? Or, was that when they cleaned up at Sebring? or Watkins Glen? or??
Those were the days.....
You are correct that Mario Andretti was one of the drivers and BOY did they clean up! The Lemans officials had to change the rules in subsequent years to make the GT40s less competitive.
BTW: Here's a car event that just kicked off last Sunday. I'm planning on going to see it sometime this week:
Jim, you have to get back to my neck of the woods for an "Auburn fix" on Labor Day weekend.
Denny:
I started going to Auburn in the Late 60s when I lived in Ft. Wayne. Boy it was a lot different then. The Krueses would probably rather this be forgotten but they started out as good ole boy farm auctioneers and just happened to be handy when the ACD Club decided to have auction in conjunction with their meet.
They used to have a car corral* where anyone could put their car on display for free. I remember turning down a 1960 Pontiac Bonneville convertible that had been a factory show car for $1500. It had swivel bucket seats a tonneau cover over the rear seats and all sorts of special features. If I remember correctly it was a 4 speed with an injected engine and had a metalic paint job that would knock your eyes out. The car to the best of my knowledge has never re-surfaced. I'm still kicking myself over that one.
*This of course was before real greed set into the car hobby much as it has in the militaria hobby. These auctions today are just an opportunity for one middle age old fart to try and impress all the other middle age old farts in attendance with how much money they have to waste.
Jim

Of course you're right Jim, but taken in that context, it's still fun to go and look!

Ed:
Is that a factory color & paintjob on your Thunderbird? If so, I'll stop by my local dealer & buy a gallon. I have a '59 El Camino that I hope to live long enough to finish and your paint might be the color I'm looking for. I'm not doing mine stock. I'm doing it the way I would have back in the 60's.
Yes it's a factory color.Used only in 2004 known as Merlot like the wine.Has a nice metalflake to it.
Man I love these T-Birds must be a pile of fun with that V-8 yours is a beauty.
Thanks for the replys. The color sold me,car had 10,058 mi.on it.Plenty of pick-up with the V-8,rides great and with the push of a button you flip the top up or down (very important in S.Fl.)
This is not my car but one exactly like the 1969 Plymouth GTX I bought new back in 1969: 440, automatic, ice blue with black interior... oh yea, and fast.
Well I'm looking for another one. So if anyone knows of one that is available at a price I can afford, please let me know.
GTX... that's short for Adios!
Just saw an orange one Bernie. Didn't look too close, and no for sale sign: but I can ask when I go back to get my car......We took some of my parents' old slides in for conversion, and got a few good vintage views of the old Dodge.
About 1960, I think.
An uncle's car was OK, too.
Ya gotta love them old Mopars.

Here's my 73 TR6 that I have had since 1990. Lots of engine Mods & Mechanical upgrades over the years to keep things fun.
My 2 hobbies - ( TR for Third Reich & TR for Triumph! )
Scott
Dual 2" Su's from an XKE help feed the Lumpy Cam.
Scott, that's a beauty
. While my main interest in cars are musclecars I have a soft spot for TR-6's. Back in 1981 my cousin taught me how to drive a stick on his TR-6.
Thanks Ray!
That was a hard car to learn on with a super heavy clutch! After the 6, every clutch must have felt like butter.
I like Muscle Cars as well, but like them to go round the corners also. Have been pondering a Superformance Cobra - as the best of both worlds, but just can't bring myself to part with the TR6.

Love the Rims on that Pantera!! That is one sweet ride!
Ron, as for the Z06, I couldn't agree more. Just wish I had an extra $70K or so laying around for fun money so I could buy one.

Man I loove that Pantera!! Fun. How much to sit in it for 5 minutes ? ; ) I past on a beat up one years ago and always regreted it. It had the cleveland too.
well some nice cars ill post some of mine when i can get to it

2004 chevy corvette heads, cam, headers, pulleys, intake, complete exhaust and nice tune about 498 RWHP

Hey scott. If it were BRG I would feel for ya. Otherwise dump it to a brit and get the superformane far better than the ffr version.
Incedentaly I did not mean to gin up my credentials here.

My mechanics Bee! 69 with 440 Six Pak. I do not own it but I did get to drive it. Runs like a Bear!
torinojo...the SC just stands for SuperCharged.
Here is my real bad boy...a 2007 Z-06 Corvette. It is pure stock 505 HP and way more car than I am driver!

For light work I use my 2002 Z-06 Corvette...405 HP and very twitchy to drive.
Mark
Heh Heh...here is my daily driver...perhaps you saw it in the backround?
A VW DTI diesel New Beetle! I got 46 MPG out of this little car and I like it a lot. The others rarely get driven, but this one goes out almost every day.
now your just being evil ;P.

Joe,
Only thing stopping me from getting the Cobra is Cash my friend. I figure I can get $22K for the TR - but the Superformance Cobra will run at least $55K outfitted correctly. Thought of selling off some of my collection - but just can't part with it. Austin Healey 100M would also float my boat - but they can top $100K these days in perfect condition.
Just read an article that said TR-6's will likely double in value over the next 2 years, so maybe if I hold out for a while longer I will be able to trade up a little easier.
BTW, My first car was a 72 Gran Torino Wagon in Yellow - 351 Windsor ( We all called it the Banana Boat in High School )- Great car for hauling all my freinds around in. Torino Cobra would have been better for getting the Girls though...
Scott
Here is my toy a 1950 Lincoln. This is my 2nd one I have owe.I think these are the coolest cars.
Dan46
hey kingtiger get a CAI then a good tune then go drive it mine picked up 60+ rwhp !!
Hey,no comments on my Lincoln?I know its not a muscle car;but come on its cool!!!
Dan46
Dan, I love them all....I sure would like to have a Lincoln like that. Classy ride for sho!
Mark
Dan,
Very nice car. A head turner for sure!
Mark these cars are to hot for you to drive
I'm going to find a big straw hat for you to wear while you drive your lawn tractor with the governor on it around.Your taking this retire thing to far.
See you at one of the shows one day .Ed Martin in sunny Fl.
Hey Dan nice Lincoln you have there. There's a guy who brings one down to the fri.night car meet in S.Fl.
Although I didn't own this car, I did drive it for a short while. It was owned by a SCCA club racer from Miami and my partner and I scrounged up enough sponsorship money to race it in the 1977 Sebring 12 Hour Endurance Race. We started in the middle of the pack in a field of Porsches,Ferraris and Corvettes. At the end of 12 hours we finished 11th overall. The only cars ahead of us were Porsches, several with factory sponsorship. Not bad for a bunch of south Fla. SCCA club racers..LOL
The car fell into bad shape but was later restored and raced in vintage races and is now owned by a Camaro restoration parts company. As a neat footnote, Scalextric, a slot car manufactuer is making a model of the car for their vintage line.
I'm here for the cars now.
Scott I thinks you have thought this through. I think we have the same prob only I have nothing to trade up with . Thank god you guys weren't doing burnouts in a yellow stationwagon, or....
Nice lincon as well.

I was stumbeling around gdc and found this forum. why is it we have expencive hobbies? lol
in the past 15 years Ive had to name the top cool cars of 20 Ive owned
Ive had a 71 amc javelin sst, 54 ford mainline 2 door shoebox, 78 camaro 79 rs camaro, 84 z28, 71 nova, 1 SWEET 70 f150 2 tone red and white, I loved that truck. Im now working on an 85 mustang gt last year of the holley carb and first year of the rollor cam. but Im thinking about cutting it short and selling it to build a hard tale bobber with a sportster engine. I found a rolling chassis bobber in california for $2k

check the speedo!
Hello, Mark! Neat ride!
It would appear that you have "the Need for Speed"!
Regards, Leipzig
The first car I ever owned was a 1973 Buick Regal...350ci...4bbl....(I had to borrow these pics from the interweb)This one was the exact "Chestnut Brown" with the executive vinyl roof...one hot beast...had trouble keeping the rubber on it...
My second car was even scarier....1976 Ford Grand Torino...I know...its the Starsky and Hutch car...It had the 460 4bbl Police Package too...had to sell it after two years when my licence was suspended for all the speeding tickets I racked up...it was the hottest car I ever owned...and cost me the most overall...I mellowed a lot after that experience...Oh to be young and reckless again!

Like those. We have a silver 2001 gasser. Here's what I'd like to do with it:

Newest addition...'41 Chevy with a 350 crate motor and 350 auto trans, A/C, P/S, dual exhaust and totally redone inside and out. The only give away that it is built is the wheels and tires..OK the exhaust tips too!
I gotta sell one of these cars...too many and no room.

Mark...Looks like no air-conditioning.Looks like a spring and fall car.
Hi Rick, that is the A/C compressor you are looking at in the engine picture. Also you can see the outlet vents under the dash. This car will freeze you out..aluminum radiator and two electric fans set at 180 degrees in front of it. Four season cruiser!

Thats the way to go Mark!! Pure class!
You'll need that turbo conversion soon for the propane or Bio-Disel the way things have been going with gas..
*hey, you need a couple violin cases with tommy guns in them to keep in the trunk!
lol, ok now i see them. You dont need to get rid of any of them, just build a bigger building
Lots of great looking cars here guys.
I`ve had a few amcars myself during my younger years.
Here`s an old pic of me with my `65 Chevy Impala.
Found myself on You Tube the other day:
Tulsa 2007.
Cool.
Gotta love these classics from the fifties.
The `57 Belvedere reminds me of "Chrisine" by Steven King.
My dreamcar is the `57 Chevy Belair and I was so fortunate to get to drive one a few years ago.
Could`nt sleep for days after...........
Now I know I'm getting old!
Just returned from the Labor Day weekend classic car auction in Auburn, Indiana and here is the car that caught my eye. A cute little Crosley pickup truck.
How many remember this version of air conditioning? My father had one on his 1938 Pontiac. The auto makers were very safety concious even then. This fan has rubber blades so it will only mangle your fingers - not amputate them.
This picture was of a 1939 Cadillac.
Here is the Caddy.
What a beauty.
For those with more exotic tastes. This Jaguar was rather nice.
The cockpit
Check that oil sir?
This is probably the view seen by most drivers.
Now this 1962 Pontiac Catilina really grabbed me because I remember seeing this very car at the NHRA National Drags in 1962 - and also several times at the US131 Dragway in Martin, Michigan. It was the NHRA record holder for the Super Stock class.
This car was one of a very limited production made specifically for the drag strip. The option package was called "Super Duty".
Among its special features was a light-weight fiberglass front end. The standard 389 cu. in. high performance engine was rated at 348hp. This one was rated at 405hp.
To my 20 year old mind at the time, this was about a good as it gets!
389 cubic inches - 405 horsepower.
Passenger side - although I doubt the car ever had a passenger. To save weight, the seats (other than the driver's) had no springs and the windows didn't have crank mechanisms.
Action shot!
Speaking of fiberglass!
I owned several over the years and still love 'em.
Here is a 1965 Honduras Maroon coupe with 396 cu. in. big block. Check the gold stripe tires and knock-off wheels
Denny, thanks for sharing these photos. The Vette looks like new. Ever go to Corvete's at Carlisle? Just went last weekend. Doesn't get much better than fairground full of fiberglass.
The Catalina is truely a historic car. Wish I could have been around to see it run back in the day. By the why the frontend wasn't fiberglass but aluminum. It's very thin and dents if not handled carefully. The frame also has dozens of holes drilled to lighten it up. the called it a "Swiss cheese frame".
Thanks Raymond. You are correct.. The Pontiac front end WAS aluminum; not fiberglas. My mistake - I should re-read my comments before posting them.
I have never been to Carlisle, PA which I understand is a big vette show. I have been to the NCRS Bloomington show several times. Actually, I sold my 1963 Corvette coupe there. It sold in less than 15 minutes.
Thanks for the show photos...........Here's a remarkable Ferrari story!:

Beautiful car Mark!
Not sure why I was able to use the word "cockpit" a few posts before yours and you cannot use the word
"s u c k e d".
Anyway, the Hemi rocks!!!
Congratulations! That is sharp.
Mark,
Wow, sweet ride! Looks just like an old Challenger I almost bought in the 1980s.

"Barn Find"
Mark, sweet ride. I've been thinking of getting the Challenger or the Camaro next year. How do you like the car so far? Anything you dislike? If I do get one it will have to have the Hemi and a manual trans.
Hey Raymond,
I bought the automatic (slapstick shifter) as I wanted a driver and have 3 manual transmission high performance cars and really wanted to just relax and let it rip without going thru all the gears every time. Plus, I can let my son drive this one and not worry about him having to shift. The Marines (he comes home from Iraq this Sunday 11/09/08) use Allison automatics in the heavy stuff and the guys don't get the jeep experience we did in our time.
It (the SRT edition) comes with a one day Richard Petty driving school experience...wwwdrivesrt.com and I gave that to him for a coming home present.
So far, the car feels bigger than I expected, has plenty of interior room and a murderous sound system with Boston Acoustics speakers. There is nothing I don't like about it. It is a really great riding car and the Brembo brakes and 20" Alcoa aluminum wheels set it off nicely in the styling dept. You can get one for sticker price with no mark up if you look around. I like this one very much so far..no squeaks, rattles or gremlins so far.
Mark
Mark your going to have to expand the garage
Saw your other post, yes it was good seeing you Brenda and your son at the various shows in S.Fl. I remember our first meeting at the Military Collector Society show in Hollywood.
Thanks Mark. One of the carpenters at work bought one also and he raves about it but he is a Mopar nut, so I think his judgement might be a little clouded
. I think I'll check the dealers by me, I'm sure there will be a couple to check out. I don't think I'll ever like driving an automatic. Both my T/A and Vette are manuals with my everyday car (97 Lumina) an automatic which I hate. My company even bought 3 dump trucks and a roll-off with the Allison automatics, hate those also, but a couple of guys love them. To each his own.
More importantly, I'm glad to hear your son is comming home.
Semper-Fi,
Ray
Haven't posted on this forum for some time...haven't seen one of these posted up either. 2008 BMW 135i, 300hp/300lbs tq, 0-60 in 4.7, 60-0 in 102 ft, the thing is an absolute rocket, handles like a BMW.
Got him in March, have put 5,500 miles on him, a few sideways, though he's now packed away for winter.
Cody
Hey, look at that, I remembered how to post.
quote:
Holy Smokes! I had no idea these things were bringing that kind of money. I don't remember this particular car, but do remember a '63 Tempest station wagon HD owned by a guy named Arnie Beswick. He called the car Mrs. B's Grocery Getter. Seeing it leave the starting line was a sight to behold!
This was my 360 F1 a completely silly purchase of a shockingly bad and unreliable car. But hey it looked nice in the main dealer! I got so fed up with the poor mechanicals, smoke and crappy f1 gearbox I ended up sticking it on ebay lost a fortune on it!
I dont care what you say yellow is a great colour though for one of these.
And after getting another, Porsche 996 turbo (I will take some pics) I went out and got this piece of crap as well. For some reason I thought the F430 was going to be better than the 360 but I was wrong. Great looks still but shocking mechanicals and all the same problems with bad clutches, crappy lights, irritable starting and crappy electrics. Now you would have thought i would have learnt my lesson first time. Buying these things reminds me of those men you see with fantastic looking women on their arms when you go out. Everyone has a look and that is kind of nice but deep down she is a ***** and when you try and get rid of her you pay through the nose for the mistake!.
Another
And another, my advice is that dont buy italian go German. I love Porsches I have had six now and am just looking for a 997 Turbo Convertable. Absolutely trouble free motoring, the engineering is spot on and they are very very fast if you buy the Turbo. I have a 996 Turbo X50 as a runaround and have done 52,000 miles in her without any trouble at all and its far quicker than the ferraris. I will take some pics of the 996 and post them when i get a chance.
Mongobongo, those are some stunning cars!!!
Love the yellow colour!
Cheers,
Mongo it's no wonder your having problems ,they put the steering wheel on the wrong side.
My son went to England to do a job, the first car he got was a BMW rt. side drive and a stick to boot.He said between the opposite road, stick on the left and steering wheel it was a challange to drive and had to get an automatic.
P.S. your cars are all fine lookers
Beautiful cars Mongo!
As luck would have it, I ran across these pictures today. The pics went missing when we moved to a new home 11 years ago and I just found them.
This isn't exotic European hardware, but something more sedate and domestic. This is my '63 Corvette, 300 hp, 4 speed, 60,000 mile toy. This car was totally 100% authentic, right down to the proper tar top battery, Firestone 500 6.70x15 NOS tires w/proper width white wall, clear plastic GM floor mats, matching serial numbers, etc. It was not only a fun car, but it put my daughter through her first three years of college when I sold it. Enjoy.
Unable to post pictures right now. I'll try later. Here is the error message.

I have the same problem with pictures.. Never before until today.. And they have been reduced
I'm kinda surprised that you americans are not more patriotic regarding your own car production.
There's nothing like your 50, 60 and early 70 cars. Big, powerfull and gas-drinking....
Owned a few of them myself and wouldn't trade them for a bunch of Ferrari's, Porche's or Beamer's.
It's quite depressing watching american mowies these days. Either they drive a Volvo or a Saab....Whatta F...?
What ever happened to good old american muscle???

Hi Trond,
I was being facetious when I said "non-exotic and sedate". Although I love a fine automobile from any country, I prefer the 50's - 70's American muscle - especially the mid-year Vettes (63-67). Unfortunately they don't make them anymore.
When the picture problem is fixed, I'll post some pictures of my '63 Impala Super Sport 409.
OK, now the upload function is working.

The NCCC used to hold a concours(sp?) event at the Strohs Brewery in Detroit, Michigan. For fun, I entered one time. Note the original window sticker. IIRC, base price was $4252. Big bucks in 1963.
The car was built in January of 1963.
BTW, those are not the correct tires shown in this set of pictures. I have other better pictures that are still missing.
I would love an old classic VW or RS2000 like the one listed earlier on this thread.
As for driving on the left, it is actually the correct side of the road to drive on and im going to tell you why.
In the times of Dick turpin and the other great highway robbers they always used to hold the stage coaches up from the left hand side of the road. Basically the reason that they did this was so they could pull their gun with their right hand.
1963 Chevrolet Impala Super Sport with 409 cu. in. engine and 4 speed transmission.

Very nice.
Impala's has allways been amongst my favorites.
I used to drive my `65 all year thru, even in the winter with lots of snow. Good heater by the way.
Denny, thanks for sharing the photos of your old 63's. Both are beauties. One of these days I'll own a mid-year vette.

Anyone like Pontiacs? '67 Tempest that Dad bought new in '66. Ordered it through the BX in England when we were transfered from there to Amarillo TX. Picked it up in New York City after flying to McQuire AFB in NJ and drove it to CA to see his parents and then to TX.

Cory, nice cars. Is the T/A a 6.6 Liter or T/A 6.6?
Imrobil, sweet looking Tempest. You don't see the Rally I's that often. I looked for a set for my 67 Firebird back in the 80's but never found any.

It was a TA 6.6 , bought that with every option POntiac had incl Hurst Hatch Roofs, wish I had it today, matter of fact wish I had any one of those cars today, except for the vettes I have those now.

Hey DAN46 - GREAT 1950 Lincoln. You see a lot of Fords and Mercs, but not many Lincolns. The last one I saw was restored and painted a bright yellow, and driven daily as a taxi in Ogden, Utah. (1995)

ESU, very nice cars! There is just something I've always liked about the '82 Corvettes and I especially like that color! In the past, I had a both a '76 & '77 and was always looking for an '82. It was definitely an end to an era of Corvettes. Finally they are getting some design back into them. Your TA also brings back memories of my two, a brown/gold and black/gold, examples I once had. Would like to have one again, although the good ones are becoming sought after and rather pricey. Now kick myself for not buying the earlier '73 with the 455 back in the day.
Denny, sweet '63 Vette! Currently I have a '67 that I've been slowly bringing back to a solid period correct original. Nothing drastic, just in need of a a little this and that but it brings a smile to my face every time I fire it up! Nothing like it!

Dave, is your '67 a big block? Nothing sounds more beautiful than a 427 with a hi-lift cam and solid lifters - especially when hooked up to a set of factory side pipes. Those side pipes will burn the h e l l out of your ankles, but they sure sound purty!!

Hi Denny, I wish that was the case but no I didn't get that lucky. Mine is the 327/350 and no side pipes. That will have to part of the next one, yeah right!

Here's something a little different for the car buffs on this forum. Chevy has always provided parade cars for NASCAR races but is no longer able to do so. They asked my Corvette Club if we could help and we came up with 43 roadsters ranging from 1957 to 2009. Here's a picture of me in my 89 on the parade lap with driver Tony Raines at PIR a couple of weeks ago. We did one lap and dropped the driver off at his car in the pits. Believe me it was a hoot and the eye candy in the pits alone was worth it! This worked out so well that PIR is planning on doing this at future races. I can now also honestly state that even with a professional racer aboard I prefer to do the driving!
Jim
Now you are a historical guy Jim! Just think about this...in 5 more years that '89 Corvette will be 25 and considered an antique. Time flies for those with a love of fine performance automobiles. There is an old car collector quote about old cars and the cost of them, regarding convertibles I love. Here it is... "When the top goes down, the price goes up".
Mark
We had a 2 door 2003 Jeep Rubicon. It fit two nicely, rode like a lumber wagon and had too aggressive tires for the occasional drive we only put 10,000 miles on it in 6 years. now we have grandkids out the wazoo and need room for them, dogs and groceries..so we traded for this last week. You can be sure it won't be easy to lose in a parking lot!
It rides a LOT better too!
Mark
Mark:
My insurance company already considers it an antique. My annual premium is $160 total with the understanding that I keep the mileage under 1000 per year. The odometer just turned 60,000. I will be applying for Bloomington "Survivor" status when it turns 25 as everything, including the paint, is original.
BTW: That's certainly an "Eyecatcher" you have there!!
Jim
Here is my daily ride. It's a 2008 Pontiac GXP fully loaded. The stopped making them and replaced them with the G8, before they stopped making them! It was the last one in the North East in that color and fully optioned.
Sorry to dissapoint you guys but I'm all Toyota.
My first car was a Toyota and I'm now 48 years old and still drive Toyota.
Here's my dream car, the Toyota GT 2000.
For a silly Japanese car, those 2000GTs are gorgeous!
You ought to buy one Pat, sit it in your showroom. I'm sure it would be a great draw!
The '70 Torino is currently in pieces getting a new paint job. I'll post some pics once it's in
one piece again.

Hey...the guy is on the wrong side of the car! Heh heh.
Me, I like ground thundering power.
Mark
Nice Charger.
By the way, too bad about GM.....wonder what happens next?
Check this engine...it has the very rare "long horn" intake runners. It's the only one I ever saw.
Mark
Indeed, an impressive engine.
An impressive engine, for sure, but is it all original parts and never messed with?
Or can it be a parts car? With mismatched dates and manufacturers?
John
Bismark ,on GM checkout Michael Moore's web site. You may not agree with him on politics but this is worth a read.
Thanks, I will.
Mark:
That was called either a Long Ram or Ram Tube setup by Chrylser and I drove a 59 Plymouth Sport Fury with this setup. I wonder what a car with this original configuration would bring at auction today as I've never seen one for sale.
Jim
Looks like that's a Cross-Ram setup.
I don't know if there are other interested parties or this is the apropriate place to post this but I've always been fascinated with high quality models of exotic cars. The example below is a 1957 Ferrari 250 Testa Rossa Spyder.
These metal kits are made by an Italian company Urago at 1/18 scale:
Jim
Jim,
Have you seen CMC,s models?
German Co. but made in China!!!
They are superb.
I have a pre war Audi Gran Prix
and a W126 Merc.
Hundreds of parts. The Audi has over 1000??
I think if you Google you will hit them.
Very expensive.

I am not familiar with those but I will look them up. How about posting some pictures?
Note to Moderator:
If you want to split this off into a new thread it's ok with me.
I thought I would add something about 250 Testa Rossas. RM Auctions sold one last Month in Italy and it brought $12,100,000 which is a new world record for an automobile.
Jim
Son next to his uncle's car.. Won state fair grounds MN. Mopars in the park and won winners circle Mopars in the park.
I guess this will be my last sports car but I have to show off the Hubertus rally grille emblems.
From the first Pontiac “Fire Bird” to the last all steel Chevrolet “Z 28” and now my final fling with this piece of thunder they call XLR.
Sincerely,

Photo #2
JohnZ,
A neighbor owns it and he described it as the "longhorn" ram tubes. That's all I know. If you thought this was a pure stock car...you need to subscribe to a few more hot rod mags! Surely you were joking?
Mark
Huburtus,
I eat cars like that one regularly with this car...a Z-06. No Caddy can stay with me..none.
Mark
As a long time Corvette owner I can add a little to what Mark has stated. The Z06 is one of the fastest production cars in the world and not much can even stay with it 0 to 60. It's also IMO a bargian since it's faster than cars that cost double or triple their price.
N.B: The Northstar engine is that Caddy can be quite a performer as well and was the basis for Cadillac's last assault on LeMans. It to bad IMO they don't offer a "Z06" version for sale to the public as well.

Mark,
I'm not sure what year but I think Chrysler did in fact, offer that "crossram" option. I think John meant "stock" as being how the car came from the factory as opposed to being put together at a later date with factory parts. Sort of like taking the 4 barrel carb off a 220 hp. '57 Chevy and replacing it with a Rochester F.I. unit. All you need are the F.I. fender signs and, Voila! - you got yerself a 250 hp. fuelie!
Mark is right on the Z06. As an original owner of the first year Z06, I have been sold from the beginning of production. Dollar for Dollar, just the best.

I hope its OK to post this here but I couldn't resist. Here is a photo of my daily driver. 1956 Buick Century Estate Wagon. It was in Bismarck, ND. and I live in Bayonne, NJ(just acros the river from NYC). I took a Greyhaound bus out(just over 2 days) and drove her home!! NO PROBLEMS. I put 2000 miles on her in 23 1/2 hours(Not that I was counting). That was 6 years ago. Have some problems with her now but she still gets me wherever I want to go. Hope you enjoy the photos. The wife said that the Teno em I had my eye on was selfish; hence the Falcon, but after all the restoration I think she may have second thoughts! We sure had fun in it at Cruisin the Coast 2010 (

Thought i would share a few pics of my old girl, i know she aint no where near as classical as some of the other cars shown here but IMO is still a classic in her own right, you guys accross the pond probably havent seen many of these not sure if they ever made it to the USA. You godda love the 90s retro cars as with all other classics. Hope someone else out there likes it, I do thats why i bought it....
One thing I learned with cars no matter what model or make, when they drive there all good when they breakdown there all pieces of s**t
Here I am sitting in my 89 Corvette waiting to pick up a NASCAR driver for a parade lap in Phoenix,2009. General Motors had always provided parade cars for the races until this year but due to economic conditions declined to do so. Our local Corvette club was asked to provide Corvette Convertibles by Phoenix International Raceway and I ended up driving car number 1. I'm sitting below the grandstand with John McCain and other dignitaries above me as the drivers are being introduced. This,to the best of everyone's knowledge, was the first time in memory private cars had been used for parade purposes at a NASCAR event. It was so popular with the fans that PIR has continued to do this ever since.

My 39 Pontiac business coup before I sold it build a chopper
NICE 39!!!! Would be VERY interested in a swap/partial-swap for a 1935-59 rag top of any kind or condition. If theres anything out the let me know. Peace, Mark
Here's my latest VW.
Here's the old one.
That's my future sport car, will arrive next spring and my name is already on it.
I am not that much into vintage cars as they are priced a little too steep for me, but there are those cars that really catch my attention.
I was able to drive a 64 Pontiac a friend owns and though they are rather old already, with proper maintenance, you can really make them appear like they are very well new.
They are sort of a challenge to keep up with though as you really have to make it a point to check on it ever so often.
Hello all,
I have a car. True story.
William Kramer
I wouldn't be myself if I do not share my baby. I have for summer a little MG MGF 1.8. It is 12 years old but still very heatlthy....
Hi, I also have same hobby but I just collect the photos and the specification of the car. I have searched a lot of picture of super cars, I must share with you people I know how to share here in the post. if any body know tell me, I would be very thankful to him.

Now that's a Ft.Lauderdale Florida top down cars ,Nice!!
I just got my Florida Drivers License renewed for another 5 years so I thought I might as well get a new sports car while I am still able. The 2013 CTS V is a real power house for me and it puts the old XRL to sleep with the 556 HP engine. My grand sons Corvette hides in the corner when it sees me coming. The Caddy is all black with black wheels and red brake shoes. A real show stopper. Go to your Cadillac dealer and take a test drive. I think you will be very happy with an AMERICAN car.
Sincerely,
HUBERTUS
The CTS V is a real nice American vehicle .You have two great lookers there.
Yes, my friends laugh that it looks like someone died in it. I will make it good! Give me 12 months:):)
This would be an old Austin Healy.
Although it looks kind of like the ole Triumph.
A little body work paint n leather n it will look great :)))
Austin Healey it is! 100 BN1 model. Will try to restore it to original Ice Blue colour... give me 12 months.

Mine
My newest car-2014 Lincoln MKZ. Also pictured are my O5 X-type Jag and an 04 Subaru WRX. Not pictured are my 02 X-type Jag and 99 Subaru sport wagon(my winter beater!). Both Jags have blown motors and hate to scrap them so maybe new motors in the future. And both are standards. Motor in WRX is shot also! Planning on putting an STi motor in it. Now I need to win the lottery to buy all the motors I'll need!!
Oh wait--I did win the Lottery! Got 5 out of 6 numbers so took home 33K after taxes! Paid off a bunch of bills and had enough left over to buy the MKZ! So the way I look at it-the MKZ only cost me $1!!!!
A great hobby, my colleague also collects the collection.

My brother, David A. Wetzel Sr. (79 years old) won 1st place (for Camaro) at the car show in Pompton Lakes, N. J. this weekend with his 1967 SS/RS CAMARO.
He also came in 2nd place for Pro Modified (picture with the girl).
His son has a Silver 1929 Custom 4-door FORD (last picture).
The car pictures are from about 2 years ago.
I have owned a 1968 Dodge Coronet 500 w/440CU engine, 1957 Chevy 4-door wagon w/350CU engine, 1986 Chevy SS Monte Carlo w/350CU engine.

Outstanding congratulations quite the car and apparently well deserved cheers, Ryan S
Thanks, my older brother, David was always working on his hot rods and drag racing since I was young. He had 55' & 57' Chevys, Rocket 88 Oldsmobile, 55 Chevy pickup (that did wheelies), 1962 Corvette and 1933 5-window Ford (with the 62' Corvette engine and trans).
Here is my 1986 Chevy SS Monte Carlo w/350CU engine, with "T" roofs. Photo was taken in Sussex Co. New Jersey while looking for Indian chert arrowheads in the cornfields across the street.
I drove it for a few years before I finally took out the T-roofs and enjoyed the open roof on some long summer rides.

I worked at a GM dealership in 1987/1988 and fondly remember the Monte Carlo SS and Buick Grand Nationals Trans AM GTA I was in college and did new and used car preparation so going through these cars and removing the seat plastic and window stickers was an experience I wish I had kept all the window stickers but who woulkda known NICE car cheers and best Ryan
My brother's wife sent me a picture of my brother's 1933 5-window Ford. This picture is from about 1972 when I was in High School.
My brother spent 9 months building this car with a custom frame and 62' Corvette engine and trans.
He hired someone to do the interior and was not satisfied, so he redone it himself with Naugahyde in a diamond tuck pattern. This car was very fast and beat a Hemi Charger in a street race. This is one of my favorite cars my brother owned.
The shifter was from his 62' Corvette and very short. I think he was only able to see with one eye over the dash when he was shifting, and he scared the heck out me.

Correction: my brother told me his Chevy Corvette was a 1961 model year. The motor he said, was "bored-over" size.
I remember he used to drag race the car and one time he took me for a fast ride down Route 23 with the racing slicks still on the back wheels after returning from drag racing.
