Hello!

I have recently purchased a dagger that I am suspecting is an early NSKK dagger.
The scabbard is rough - it is missing the nickel-silver plated tip, but it does have the screw holes.
It still has the hanger which is nice.
It was manufactured by Aug.Merten Ww. Solingen.

Here are some photos - I want to see if there are any oddities about this dagger.

Any and all input is appreciated!

You have a nice and original SA-dagger by Merten.

The dagger is all fine and in pretty good condition, the scabbard is original but incomplete and the upper fitting got damaged.

You can try to find the missing scabbard piece, but try the fit before buying, because those early ones are not standardized.

You made a good start to a dagger collection, congratulations!

Agree. Good start.

The lower piece of the scabbard should be nickel silver. Screws too.

The hanger clip is not the correct one but of the same vintage. It is from an over-the-shoulder cross strap. The leather and buckle look right.

A little wax on the grip would make it look better. If you buy Renaissance Wax, put 2-3 light coats on the blade and gently wipe them off.
