Well I went thru this about 2 years ago.. For me this tag is a fake. Last year there was a big discussion on it on the German Military Fundforum.. Members there saying they are good because they seen them come up from the ground etc. Myself saying they are fake and also Paddy Keating coming in also saying they are fake..

I got burned about 10 years ago with one to the 500 unit.It turned out to be a 100% fake. It was presented to me in Poland, supposedly from a dig..
Now these 600 tags are coming out again on a couple other forums saying they're good,,with the same provenance of them being ground dug..

What do you guys think here? Possible they are good? Know of any from a good source? Know 100% they are fake etc.??
Thanks, G.

They are complete crap. Look how the engraving in the second example goes right over the top of the oxidation -- the stamping was clearly done AFTER the dogtag rusted away. Plus, the nomenclature is wrong. The mathematical probability of even one of these coming out of the ground after 65 years is considerably less than that of a 747 crashing into your house in the next five seconds. I wouldn't touch those things with a barge pole.

Chris, I stopped collecting tags in 2001. To much bull**** with them..After seeing a few period complete stamp sets that was enough for me..
*anyway regarding this para tag,, I've never liked these particular para tags or any other than the coded type..
Ocasionally a digger will make a crazy statement and another swears to it and WHAM,,a new variant or super rare piece is found/dug..
On the German forum it seems they have some true believes there in this tag. Theres a few topics on this very tag. On one a member says he was right there when one of these tags was found.
In this link there is the link on one of the first posts to the topic where Prosper gives it his all, but to no avail it seems.....
I just hate when they try and use 'ground dug' as a provenance..They try and make a standard, make it real,,,and who knows maybe in 20 years nothing we say/said will matter and they will be real then and someone will make a killing selling off their pieces! Big Grin..
