I found this ring in german ebay and I am sure, it was dedicated to a Wachtmeister in the saxonian Husarenregiment 18. Gold and blue were the colours of the 18th. Dark blue for enlistend men and all the "Unteroffiziere" and light blue for officers.
Inside is a decdication, difficult to read, but given in remembrance for active service from 1896 - 1908. A 12-year service was typical for a "Wachtmeister".

It's not a SS-skullring, but is standing in a similar honorring tradition and - as I think - nice to see.

The regiment

Uniforms, as you see the regiment 18 was coloured gold - blue, the regiment 19 silver - blue.

The emblem of the ring was made after the "S�beltasche", I dont know the correct word in english.

These were the light blue officers tunics.

A very nice ring to be sure, and a good find!

For those of our fellow collectors who might not know what the "FR" stands for, it's Fredericus Rex, or Frederick the King.

Every time I see this logo I'm reminded of Pop's division, the 23rd Infantry. The intertwined initials were their second-style divisional insignia too, but during the Second World War.

thanks for your friendly comment. The inverted initials are not standig for FR, because the regiment was not prussian. They are standing for AR, wich means Augustus Rex, the last king of saxonia.

During the active service of the later ringowner, the king changed for three times:

1873 - 1902: Albert (* 1828, � 1902)
1902 - 1904: Georg (* 1832, � 1904), the brother of Albert
1904 - 1918: Friedrich August III. (* 1865, � 1932)

I'm not sure, how the initials of the "S�beltasche" changed with a new king.

During the Emperor Time, the kings were united in the German Imperium. They had not much influence, the emperor was the boss.Only their regiments were their biggest power.
I like it when a ring has a personal inscription.
Your ring is interesting.
Mark 333 stands for 8 karat Gold?

I'm not sure about the 333 mark. Today in Germany it indicates a "cheap" kind of gold.

In 1914, Germany had 20 Husaren-Regiments. They all were prussian, withou three: Regiment 18, 19 and 20. These three were saxonian.
