A stange cap to be sure,,,Iv never come across a cap that hasnt had the Brown/White/Black RZM code manufactors label either still inside or has come off from this era! The construcion of the linen, leather headlining and the inside stitching looks authentic tho! The visor seems to be aged as does the chin strap,,,,but the teleform body looks in perfect condition as is the piping, this piping is very well known to be the first to be attacked by moths due to the linseed oil in the fabric, also from your images the piping is very white and pronouced ,,, Didnt the Cavelry twill body come in a bit later than this cap would indicate Not all manufacturers RZM stamped the visor which is usually of the cross-hatched type but they certainly stitched that label inside,, Like Bob said there are very few "bargains" in this field now with the internet etc and this cap is definately not a leaders cap,we know of a very few upgrades on promotion and one or two are in books,,,,,,,, I dont know what area you are from but take it to a militaria show, get it checked out with one or two known ASS cap knowledgeables they may be able to explain more! But at the end of the day its all depends on whether your happy with it,,, S

well, the white piping is not so white as it seems(my camera shout it up). when I get the cape it's shape wasn't such fine as it is now. I've putted it on shape for months. The cap isn't so new..there are moth traces on piping. the cap isn't hardly worn and I think it has rested for 60 years in some safe place... crazying on visor isn't related only to use and abuse of it, but it's about many temperature/humidity changes in years. the damages on chin cord/visor are present even on the velvet nearer. This cap has been posted here 2 years ago (with positive feedbacks) and in some other ranked italian forums and the feedback wasn't negative at all. I have no bad intention on stating it as original like a mule (I am surely not selling it)but only because there is nothing on it's construction that seems to be postwar or faked in any way.
Anyway I will keep all of your opinions, of course.

I would expect the cap wool to look more like this photo. If you argue the "ribbed" wool is for officers, then you'd expect the interior to be officer's quality also, which it's not. Despite a heavily worn cap, notice the minimum amount of fraying on the piping!

All the piping on the previous photo is yellowed like the lower piping. It's the lighting.

This photo is what I would expect the visor to look like. The black cap in question has very odd aging unless it's leather, which I don't think it is.

In reference to the white cap, when do you ever see real insignia on a fake cap--- NEVER. SO fake insignia always give concern although obviously you can have a real cap with repo stuff. David

nothing is impossible in this hobby when you are patient and always on the hunt. Even a white Gen. cap was on the market end of last year.

Actually, my point was that I've never seen this "ribbed" material on pre-RZM caps. I always thought it to be associated with later SS visor caps (post 1935).

Are you saying that it didn't have any RZM markings?

no, I am not...I don't know if there's a RZM tag or not. I've just posted it to show a ribbed wool on an original early NCO cap.

Thanks! Mine had an RZM tag, but it was removed at one time. You can see where it used to be. I HATE when that happens!!
