I was fortunate enough to acquire these two helmets within the past six months. They are both ET64s with 1939-dated liner bands. Neither one has dome stamps. The one with ET decals has a batch number of 4367 (on the left) and the one with Pocher decals has a batch number of 4400 (on the right).

Wow...nice going, Erich. Those are both wonderful examples. I do believe, however, that you will find very faint remnants of a dome stamp under the right lighting conditions.
Cheers,
Darryl

Gorgeous helmets. The characterisitic Pocher trait is quite obvious. Wouldn't mind having that one myself. Good catch. Cody

Thank you for all the comments. My SS headgear collection is now evenly split in numbers between cloth and helmets. The helmets, needless to say, dominate the value category.
Darryl, you are correct. It's almost like invisible ink but I was able to see traces of a dome stamp in both helmets by shining a flashlight at an angle. Amazing!
I was not able to capture the subtle color difference between the two but the 4367 ET is more an apple-green and the Pocher ET is more a pea-green as shown on page 102 of "SS-Steel."
Cheers, Erich

Applying Cody's photo-editing technique, I'm reposting the first two photos. The results are better and the color difference is more evident.

Great Helmets Eric, I used to own the one on the left with ET runes. They look great together,. Few collectors have TWO DD SS like that ! Here is a picture when I used to own it, This helmet has the best paint I have ever seen on a helmet. Near perfect..

Erich, Thanks for the verification...I figured that there were dome stamps inside both your helmets. It is my contention (along with some others) that every helmet received an inspector's stamp. It's just that many have faded or been obscured over time. Cheers,
Darryl

Larry, Both helmets are dated 1939. I find it interesting that the helmet with Pocher decals has a later batch number than the one with ET decals along with the "pea-green" paint often associated with earlier helmets. Cheers, Erich

Greetings Mr Wahl, great looking helmets and congratulations on your purchase. Just a general question for anybody who might know- was it common for helmets from one manufacturer to come out with the different variants of decals applied to them? I myself only own two Quist M35 SS DD's with pocher decals, and I am not very well versed on the subject of helmets. I hope someone can help as I have passed up a few other helmets in the past, due to my phobia/lack of knowledge on the subject, and that SS Panzer officers peaked cap was too tempting Any comments would be appreciated, cheers. And once again, great helmets!

Are your Q helmets reissues or factory issues. I have never seen a factory Q with pochers. Pochers were commonly used on reissues and field applications. Also used on early Ets like Erich's..
Any pictures.?
