I see that liner band is an aluminium reinforced version, didn't that start in 1938? It was mentioned this liner band was dated 1937 so that can't be right can it? Did the factories retrospeectively reinforce unissued helmets?

Do you still insist the leather must be darker???
This helmet was issued to one BACKHAUS in 1938 and is still in this fabolous condition. The nametag is on the inside of the liner next to the III Lehr Geschwader stamp.
I don't know if the luft lid posted in this tread is real ,but it's possible to find lids in this condition.Storing is everything.
Ulf.

Reinforced liners started in 1937. As I said in an earlier comment, "the helmet is absolutely stunning", but let me add it is too good to be true. Larry

Yes Adam, my DD luft shown was picked up by me in Hnefoss ,about one hour drive outside of Oslo. The helmet was stored INSIDE the home since the war.Tempered environments is crucial.

I would love to see a closeup of the eagle but even from the distance it reminds me of a 1st pattern decal on a DD luft camo on ebay that raised a lot of debate not too long ago,it has some details that I never saw on original ones just my modest opinion obviously ciao mario

Its probably easier to fake a minter lulu than a camo and just as worthwhile .(not implying its a fake or anything untoward that might upset anyone now or in the future ) Rob.

OK, I got to add my two cents worth here. Like they say..........if it's too good to be true. Well, you know what I mean. I personally don't like it. Lets see some clear, close-up pictures of the decals and further discuss the helmet. Till then it gets a thumbs down from me.

I can't honestly say this lid is good or bad but keepin in mind it's a size 60 shell those real small ones probably didn't see a lot of use. I hope this is a good one for Bob. Here's a real snake leg. ...

Bob...........Guys, I will think about supplying pic's? Either show them or not. I still don't think the helmet is legit. I might be wrong, wouldn'nt be the first time.

Here is what i received from the seller ( To me )
I took it to the SOS in '03 and had lots of "yeses" in regards to it's authenticity. Just after purchasing it in '02, I took it to Anders Skotte of Sweden who has years and years of high-end collecting experience (see Uniforms and Traditions of the Luftwaffe where he has loads of photo credits of his Luftwaffe stuff) and he said that it was without a doubt, without question a 100% original piece from the period.
