I picked this up the other day. Is it original? Or are the grip plates replaced? If grips are replaced are they real or fake? Could someone Please tell me the approximate value?

Thanks For Your Help!
Raymond

The accepted grip insert shape and design of the Brannik Youth Knife is quite different from this one. The blade has the correct markings for the Brannik knife.

Thanks for the quick reply
Would you say that the blade and grips (although put together) are original?
I only paid $95.oo at a pawn shop for it.
Would you say it was worth it?

Thanks for helping

I can not speak to the grips. There are members here that know these things.

The blade has the correct shape, writing, and marking of the dear. The scabbard also seems correct.

As to price, the scabbard is worth more than the price.

Jim is correct with respect to the blade which appears to be from a Brannik Youth knife. The grip plates & emblem on your knife look to be from an ordinary HJ knife. This is a picture of a Brannik Youth knife hilt, hope this helps.

Could be the pictures: but the pommel and the fittings of the knife seem strange to me. Maybe the grip plates could have been replaced, adding a "common" diamond.

Best greetings,

Herman

Brannik knives were issued to members of the Bulgarian Youth movement.

Thanks for all your help. Sorry about the bad pictures but I had to take about 30 or so just to get the few clear ones I got. The plates on this knife are kinda loose so I suspected that they were changed at some time. Just picture a dagger collector 30 years or so ago picking up this knife and saying "Wow this looks like a NAZI Knife without the grips" Then changing them...
To bad these things happened but I thought the price was good and was suprised to see it in a pawn shop!
Thanks again,
Raymond
