The only marking inside the helmet is on the back brim and as best I can tell is a real light date impression in the leather,19-- something. I have tried several times to pick it up on my digital but you just cannot make it out in the picture.

I got this helmet from John Stidam out of Galena Kansas. He told me he picked it up in Germany. He was a First Special Service Force veteran that wound up in the 505th airborne battalion at wars end.

By the way the chinstrap leather is new. The original chinstrap was dry rotted and all that could be salvaged was the hardware. But that was one of the reasons Johnny let me have it.

The chinstrap is OK as a replica but you will hopefuly find an original in acceptable condition for this lovely picklehaube. Maybe I upset people but I would take an original from an ordinary helmet for this one. Most pickelhaubes are played with anyway.
