could any one explain how army hangers attatched to an army brocade belt like this one? Was there another piece involved?

Gustavo,

The dagger hangers did not attach to the belt. They were typically worn through a slot in the hip pocket of the tunic and were either attached to an under belt on the trousers or to a clip attached to the tunic lining.

Gustavo,

Here is an example of the cloth hanger that was normally sewn into the lining of the tunic. The brocade dagger hangers were simply inserted throught the dagger slit in the pocket and attached to the clip.

This is an example of the over-the-shoulder sling that served the same purpose. Again, the brocade hangers were simply attached to the clip. As you can see, these cloth straps are adjustable.

Daggers could also be attached to an underbelt worn about the waist. Here is such an underbelt for a Kriegsmarine dagger.

Here is a loop that simply goes on any waist belt. The brocade hangers are attached to the clip.

Lastly, here is a set of Heer dagger hangers attached to a clip that fits over the top of the trouser waist. This leather accouterment can be used for trousers worn without a belt.

Lots of ways to attach the dagger hangers but they did not normally attach to the brocade belt.
