Bajonet scabb frog real.. ss stamping on ricasso fake, ss marking on gribs fake, in fact you have a nice k98 bayonet but is actually now ruined with the fake ricasso/gribs stamping.. sorry to tell you that , the last pic i dont know weather they are fake or not but there probably someone her who does

yes the markings have been applyed postwar therefore its not an "original out of the factory" item anymore sort of speak

thats the serial number its the 14710 made of that year there should be a year stamping near the crossguard

The bayonet looks like reworked and reblued, any other markings on opposite ricasso? the SS stamps and emblem are fakes.best regards,Andy

Looks that way to me also with a fake emblem as well. Is it possible the share the price and source? If not exactly, perhaps something to give a rough idea if more of these show up? Best Regards, FP

Definitely not an authentic SS marking on the ricasso. The SS did have some ricasso markings but that is not one of them.

yeah i thought so too, why stop there once they started.. and yes come to think of the color of the piece dosent look right either, youre right andy. Well it was 2 in the morning or so when i answered my eyes where a little blured lol

yep reblued scabbard and blade of bayonet too... and the locking mechanism (dont know the english word for it ive forgotten it.. is not original for the bayonet i see it has some benchmarks on pommel.. somebody have worked on it.. otherwise ok ah.. the frog also original..

A button glued on with black epoxy(?). Mismatched, reblued, and vise marks on top of both the bayonet pommel, and locking mechanism. Not things that I think would be considered "plusses". FP

this was just in with a bunch of knives and other stuff i got recently. I know very little about bayonets and thought it safe to ask here. this one will end up at my flee market booth and the scabbard and frog on ebay.....thanks again for all your help and info.
