I've asked the seller for some additional photos - still waiting.

I could be wrong, But I am pretty sure it is an early reproduction. I compared the blade to one I have and it is identical. The dagger even has the same white grip as mine. Mine has not been "aged" so it is in excellent condition. But, it is a reproduction I purchased in Warsaw in about 1994. I found a photo posted here.

If you look at the third from the left, it is the same model.

I took down the dagger and compared the blades and every swirl and the placement are identical.

To me,it appears some one did what the Poles have historically refused to do, put Borowski's name on a reproduction.

I would like to see a good photo of the makers mark.

That's what I've asked for - close-up of the Borowski signature, grip, motto with eagle and scabbard.
BTW - Jim, don't you have the spare set of hangers?

Hi Walter. No spare hangers for the pre Commie period.

Actually, all my commie period hangers are matched with the proper dagger,

Hi everybody I was on the flea market in Gda?sk during my holidays it was the biggest flea market in Poland . I saw two copies of this dagger . Personally I dont have seen copies with etched Borowski , but maybe they are. Copies were sold in horrible price 300 USD. But if someone is interested I found firm in ?D? which makes copies nowadays.Regards from Poland Zet

Hi Zet.

As you know, I lived in Lodz for 6 years. I interviewed the people who manufactured the daggers and spoke with the son in law of the man who did all the original silver and nickel plating on the post WWII daggers.

The modern reproductions are not that good.

PS, I purchased several nice pieces at the annual Gdansk market.

Every other weekend outside of Prague there is a huge flea market, Bustehrad. It's hit and miss, but my friend got a pair of WW2 German riding boots that fit for $13.00. Corky
